Let's compare some international goal scoring records, with goalscoring ratios (lower is better):

Gabriel Batistua (78 caps/57 goals), Ratio 1:1.37

Ronaldo (67 caps/47 goals), Ratio 1:1.42

Diego Forlan Coranzo (11 caps/7 goals), Ratio 1:1.57

Christian Vieri (31 caps/17 goals), Ratio 1:1.82

Raul (60 caps/31 goals), Ratio 1:1.93

Andriy Shevchenko (39 caps/19 goals), Ratio 1:2.05

Alan Shear-envy (63 caps/30 goals), Ratio 1:2.1

Dennis Bergkamp (79 caps/36 goals), Ratio 1:2.19

Michael Owen (53 caps/24 goals), Ratio 1:2.21

Thierry Henry (49 caps/20 goals), Ratio 1:2.45

Ruud Van Nistelrooy (27 caps/11 goals), Ratio 1:2.45

Therefore

Forlan > Vieri > Raul > Shevchenko > Shearenvy > Bergkamp > Owen > Henry > RVN ;)

As DanWagon26 will tell you, the stats do not lie

MILNER > Forlan > Vieri > Raul > Shevchenko > Shearenvy > Bergkamp > Owen > Henry > RVN

Ultimate strikers combination, Milner and Forlan.

Go the Cats!!!

I think on that basis there is an ex-Polish player, currently in the German national side that beats them all.

Wouldnt that be amusing. ;):D

Moomba

Miroslav "Sellout" Klose (29 caps, 15 goals), Ratio 1:1.93

Sorry Moomba :D :D

Okay.

For example, both Forlan and Shevchenko are available on a free transfer, but your club can only have one of them ... who would ou take, Diego Forlan or Andriy Shevchenko?

We all know who.

:o

I know you are trying to make it simple, given you can't comprehend the figures, but there are so many more variables involved than your ultra-simplistic example

i think the gaf has the runs on the board for me to take his judgement ahead of yours.

stats will not tell a lie unless you compare like on like. dago has played the least number of int'l matches than any of the other strikers listed. He also plays in a weaker confederation. all the european guys struggle to regularly score as there is more a focus on defence in UEFA. roberto carlos probably has a better record than some of the european strikers listed.

Nice way of trying to put Diego up as a one of the Best world class International strikers.......

Only 11 caps though.......RVN has 27 and is the next lowest..

I would think Diego would need another 20 or so caps to Put his stats with this List into perspective

You can't argue with the goals per game ratio.

Considering Batigol's international career would be pretty much over, this makes Diegoal the 2nd best striker in the world (based on goals per game).

What a front two, the skill and trickery of Ronaldo, with the brilliant finishing of The Great Coranzo.... Oh yes...

A weaker confederation?

The same 'weaker' confederation that Ronaldo, Batigol, et al play in??

You've got to be kidding. Roberto Carlos has a sh1t record. Vastly overrated.

& there's my point. ronaldo & batistuta have even better records than forlan and we all know they are better forwards than him. The south americans prefer to push up the ground leaving a lot of space down the back.

re RC, it was an exaggerated remark, but contrasting the different football styles between the continents.

I'm sure if I bothered to look, I could find other South American strikers with worse ratios than Forlan, so you're point is invalid.

Not every South American side prefers to push up either. Especially the weaker countries who have no option but to go defensive.
