Guys, I'm wanting to buy a relativley cheap digital camera that isn't grainy - just one that I can upload pics onto my laptop. Don't want to pay over $200. I have looked on a few sites like DS and target but there isn't much info.

Since I don't know much about them does anyone know which brands are the best? ie kodak, olympus etc.

Thanks in advance.

Strathfield were offering the Pentax Optio E50 (8.1 Megapixel) for $129. Give them a call.

IMO if you want to spend around 200 you need to go for a lower end camera in one of the better brands. For me the best 2 in compact cameras are Canon and Panasonic.
Don't touch Kodak or Samsung etc, they are shithouse.
If you are willing to spend a little extra then something like the Panasonic Lumix FS3 is a good option for around 270. But for 200 or so I think one of the Canon PowerShot series is the way to go.
Remember you have to add $20 or so for a memory card and around the same if you want a case too.

check out the canon powersot a470 cheap as cheaps 117 at work and packed with features for the price.

cheap sd cards as well.

kodak are crap

fuji and olympus and sony have expensive memory cards

Canon are the best - especially in high end cameras but have some ripping lower end ones too.

I have a Canon 400D twin lens kit and it is awesome, but yer out of your budget.

I have the Panasonic Lumix FS-3, which I picked up for $250. Solid purchase. If you can get it cheaper, then I'd say its worth going for the little bit extra.

I personally like the Fuji Finepix range. They are simple cameras yet they sit well in your hand. They have all the features you need for amateur photography. But yeh as mighty mick said the memory cards are expensive for fuji.

FS3 is a beauty for the price it's at these days. Panasonic's are very, very good compact cameras. Them and Canon streets ahead of the others IMO.

i just bought the panasonic lumix tz15 off ebay and having it delivered either tomoro or wednesday. anyone rate it

Spend the money and get a SLR, you won't look back.

If tho you're looking for just a small party camera I had a Pentex camera and it was great.
Easy to use, great LCD, photos always turned out great and its auto offers great photos.
I even gave it to my mum and she loves it, This is the woman who once called me to over to fix her computer because it wasn't opening any programs, I walked in the room, removed the hair dryer for the esc key and left.

I just won a Lumix DMC-LS80 from the swim2win competition.

Anyone know if its any good?
It's the cheapie of the Panasonic range (not necessarily a bad thing - I'd rather that than the most expensive Samsung etc).
So yeh definately not bad at all, as they are a good brand - but I don't think it has the Leica lense.
Still will be a pretty good camera though, especially when it was free!
