Greetings all,

I'm currently on the market to purchase a Digital Camera. I'll just be using it when travelling and at home to replace my old flash camera which I've had since 1995.

What I need is to hear what digital camera you have, what features does it have, would you recommend it, and how much did you have to fork out for it.

I'm also looking at getting a digital camera which I can download the images onto my printer & scanner (Canon i950 and CanoScan 9900F) if that helps.

Finally, I've seen a lot of places that have sales on for digital cameras, is it best to buy now while the time is hot, or wait until June when I can buy it duty free?

Cheers!

Digicams have dropped heaps in the last few months. Given the value of the aussie dollar to the US at the moment now is as good an opportunity as any.

Avoid Sony like the plague. The only good Sony cameras are their top the line ones, which are frightfully expensive (ditto for any Sony product really).

Without knowing a budget, these are good value for money cameras:

Olympus MJU 300/400
Canon IXUS 300/400 (avoid the IXUS II)
Nikon Coolpix 4300 - I have one of these and very happy. Point and shoot simplicity with the option of going manual and tweaking everything if I want to.

I'd say all of those cams should hook up direct to your printer if needs be.
