Digital Maps

What started a week or so ago as a post in our Facey group has become a project with the gaming group I hang out with.

An example of a digital map using a projector:

We've started with an LCD screen I bought off Gumtree.

I've made a light wooden stand for it and have had a D&D session with my son using the set up.

Tonight we have our first session in the gaming group, where we are working our way through the D&D 5e Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign.

Eventually something like this would be totally grouse:

Fun session tonight - it worked pretty well with Roll20.

It sort of put the map in the player's hands. The DM revealed rooms from behind his screen rather than reaching over and drawing on a mat or what have you.

That's me on the table kicking the Drow's arse while the rest hang outside or hide behind me.
