As I'm sure the majority of you would have already seen this you would have noticed that obviously Dimma looked very down, upset and mostly disappointed with the performance we dished up. I have never seen him like that though, he always manages to crack half a smile even after some of our worst performances and could always see the positives.

This time was another story however and it has visibly taken a toll on him. Don't wanna jinx it like most of us normally do but i reckon something big is going to come of the Gold Coast game. I'm not saying its curtains for the year at all, although it's only round 1 we could still go either way for the year ahead, but I also have not seen the team so shaken up after a game not even after the final last year. I hope next thursday night is the beginning of something big. Anyway, here is the video for those of you who haven't seen it.

So he should be. We supporters have those feelings all the time. There's only so much the coaches can do. The players must be held to account for playing like shit once again. I'm glad he named names cause none of those names brought a surprise to anyone. It is what it is and if those players, particularly vickery and riewoldt want to continue at this great club they better shape up of just eff off. Prancing around like millionaires on the field, lambasting their teammates, imposing media bans etc. just ridiculous. Guys like deledio can crap on too but he had a couple of shocking moments in that game as well. Apart from cotchin, we have no leadership on the field during a crisis.

we have no leadership on the field during a crisis.

Really? All I saw was lids trying his guts out and yelling and screaming trying to lift the team (along with cotch). Yes he made a few errors out of frustration but IMO there wasn't much else he could do. Just my opinion though.

Get your hand off it. I never understand why some supporters are so happy to burn Deledio for a few tiny incidents. I can clearly remember Cotch kicking it out of bounds on the full on our half back line under no more than normal pressure along with a few other pretty damn iffy kicks, but nobody says a thing about him. Cotch ran at 50% disposal efficiency vs Deledio's 75.8%, Deledio won us more ball (more contested possessions and clearances), and I dare say he gained us more metres. Deledio was also rated more valuable by the only two objective measures we have open access to (SC and Dreamteam points).

In the last quarter when you're accusing him of "having some shocking moments" it was Deledio's hard running and fierce willpower that got him in position to kick 1.1, and when he kicked the ball away from the ump out of frustration I would have lost my shit just like him. If he'd been spotted up half a second earlier that would have been an almost certain goal - he'd had the speed and awareness to lose his man and create space in the forward line, something we certainly lacked for most of the night - only to have it ruined by his teammate's lack of awareness.

Amen to that.

Don't misunderstand me. Deledio had a really good game but he also had a few moments which cost us dearly. No use being angry at others in the dressing room if you also cost the team.

Good to see he acknowledged the sub mistake.
Staggering isnt it??? We have what, 10 coaches/assistants and all of them get it wrong? 10,000 richmond fans at the game could have told them who to sub off and who to keep on without all the computers and stats in front of them. Amatuer stuff. Just ridiculous. Sorry for continuing to vent but im still furious with that performance. I've been defending the club for a long time but just won't accept crap performances any more. Simple things like getting the sub so badly wrong is not acceptable.

Yes really. Leadership in a crisis is a major problem for us. Has been for years. Last year's final and rd one has once again proven it. When the blow torch is applied we continue to wilt.

I don't remember the final all that much (nor do I care to), but going off round one, lids was definitely doing all he could to try and lift the rest of the mob, who most of, were well bellow standard. Like I said, I acknowledge he made blunders himself, but it was cotch, thomas, lids and probably hampson v a very hungry and much improved gold coast outfit. What else was he meant to do? He can't carry the side anymore. Its up to the other 14-15 on the park at the time to actually listen and step up. Leadership from lids not yo blame IMO.

Not many of us actually want to remember the final (me included) but lids was missing that day too and had a lot of mates. He's a leader and has been at the club a long time now and needs to step up in a crisis. I agree lids busted his arse in round one but at the end when you lose a game which you are red hot favourites to win, no one notices that or cares much. The record books and the ladder show we lost. We'll move on.....again.

Sub Griff or Ty. It wouldn't have made any difference whatsoever IMO. Suns outran us in the last 20 minutes.

Perhaps not and we'll never know. All we can look at is the stats and effort on the night and it's clear griff was streaks ahead of vickery (certainly in effort) and was having a real dip.

Also fundamentals as someone else has pointed out like gloves & boots to suit the conditions.....If that's true, totally unacceptable for a pro-AFL club. It's tuff enough competition wise without assisting the opposition with those things as well....As far as venting goes thecotch , gotta get it off your chest to be able to move on. So vent away...:thumbsu:

Cheers TJ. I pour a grand into RFC memberships every year and have done for the past 17 years. I won't stand for excuses or comedy-type stuff ups like the sub situation any longer. I was absolutely staggered when it happened. To admit it was a stuff up makes it even worse IMO. Shows Dimma has NFI at times and is regularly out-coached. What's worse is we have a seasoned campaigner in Mark Williams (who I admire a lot FWIW) sitting on the bench who you'd have thought would have said to Dimma, "mate I know you're the boss but take off griff and leave vickery on? You sure?". Perhaps he did and was ignored. Who knows.
Dimmas moves on riewoldt and martin are classic dumb decisions. He's slowly but surely wrecking both of them. He's turned a dual coleman medallist who's strength was his one on one marking and goal kicking ability into a skinny looking outside flanker who is looking totally ineffective. He's also turning a goal kicking midfield wrecking ball in Martin into a back flanker who opposition coaches would be dancing in the rain seeing him there.

This transparency is fantastic:thumbsu:

great to hear Dimma's thoughts:)

One thing I will say in general, don't underestimate GCS. I know we didn't but in terms of rankings their midfield is great and probably superior to ours I think atm. The have Ablett and Swallow has matured now, plays like a gun now. Plus Omeara etc.. they are very good. S May may also be AA this year.

I had another look at the match yesterday on fox, apart from getting stronger in the hands with marking, TV I think can improve his reading of the ball and judgement as well.

Not the end of the world and plenty of time to develop and improve in our future:thumbsu:

GC are quality without Ablett and having him there is a game changer. But we should have won and we fumbled the ball way too much and if I was Lids also I would have lost my shit too. I really think its just nerves and Competition within the playing group coming out. Upside is we have room for rotations now

I took what Dimma said as essentially we tried hard but just played crap. He probably got the sub wrong, but TV is an experiecnced player that can take a grab and kick a goal.

Losing the loose ball so badly, in the front and back end is poor. especially in our defence you cannot let the opposition get the loose ball. To me it sounds like their coaching staff took our game plan apart and took advanatage of weaknesses they found. We missed handballs and kicks that we should have nailed. Overall, we lost to a team that schooled us in getting hands on the ball in dangerous situations, running harder and playing their system better.
