Could have left Hampson on and put a hard tag on Jones.

That would have been a start.

I was surprised he activated the sub so early. I would have subbed Vickery but Hampson wasn't giving much so I sort of understand the thinking.

Although the 3 tall forward line just didn't click so Vickery off would have made more sense from a structure point of view.

From the ground I couldn't understand why Dimma allowed Houli to get dragged so far down back- to the last line, for a quarter and a half. The dees saw this and exposed it. Grigg was down there too, and cost us at least one goal.

Does anyone take not of Dimmas ability to quote stats.. but some really weird stats! " if x and y happen you are a 13% chance to score"
AFL is a game full of variables, they way he breaks the game down using stats can be useless.. just food for thought...

When Astbury went down, we had to reshuffle our defenders. They ended up with mismatches.

Just drop the recycled players. Every week they do the same bullshit turnovers

Recycled players contracts forbid dropping, coach us dead man walking

The one thing that really pissed me off in his press conference was him saying "They wanted it more than us today."

On a day we paid tribute to arguably the greatest ever figure in our clubs history that should never have been the case. Our players are mentally weak, and collapse when put under the pump.

I've got a solution for the problems Dimma. Stick to your bloody word! You said the jumper wouldn't hit the ground whilst you were coach and yet you reward players like Chaplin, Grigg and Vickery who are lazy and disinterested with continuous games whilst players like Arnott bust their gut at VFL level, and at AFL level and you drop them to play your pets.

You also said that your focus on recruiting was to recruit players of good character who could kick. Troy Chaplin may be a good character, but he cannot kick ti save himself. Shaun Grigg is the same. And there is no bloody point drafting players to kick when we never bloody kick the ball. All we do is overpossess the ball with handpasses or dinky little kicks backwards and sideways. We should be recruiting players who have good skills, but can handle the pressure. It is sad when a second year player in Nick Vlastuin is our most composed player already. Even Ben Lennon in his first game looked more composed than most of the team. It is a bloody indictment on our list, and one that needs to be rectifiied quickly.

The reason we aren't playing anywhere near what we were last year is because we aren't using the same gameplan as last year. Why does it take us 3 quarters of boring, unskilled, overpossessive football to revert to the hard, gut running long kicking, play on at all costs attacking game plan we played last year? If we want to play like we did last year, we have to use last years game plan.

I have been very supportive of Dimma, and this club through some tough times, but yesterdays lost was probably the angriest and most disgusted I have ever felt about this club. For the first time, I seriously questioned my allegiances. 24 hours later I am still angry, still disgusted but I am a Tigers supporter and I will stick by them. I would be very disappointed in the club if the players and coaches were not feeling angry and disgusted at yesterday's performance.

Most accurate part about playing his pets, jumper hit the ground and was spat on by the club, absolute ****ing disgrace, and the shit is dim as fault too many mates

I wonder if the emotion was due to him realising that he doesn't have what it takes to be a successful coach.

Or he's realised that the assistant coaches he has put in are duds and the half-hearted players he has backed in have again let him down - that's you Vickery and Grigg you pathetic handbags!!!!!!

Great post!

I feel exactly the same! Dimma has now hit his first hurdle with us,the supporters. Lets see how he responds.

Subbing Hampson instead of Vickery was a mistake.
Not playing Griffiths down back for Astbury was also a mistake.
Hopefully Griffiths will play down back this week. A guy that can kick 60m over the zone is a massive weapon.
I cant understand why he hasnt played down back this year yet!!!!!
**** Dimma is starting to give me the shits.....vent over

Time to employ the George Costanza method.

Nothing is working, so start doing the complete opposite.

Questions have to be asked of the Development Coach also. Where's Mark Williams in all of this mess?

Season is over, nothing to lose. Drop Vickery, Chaplain, Grigg down to the VFL and bring in young legs and put Jack back in the Leadership group.

Personally , I like Dimma. I think he is good for the players and he should stay. I'm sure he has added value in the time he has been there.
But not as match day coach. We would be better rotating someone out of the crowd on match days.
AND, in response to this post, what about the other development/assistant coaches. They are as guilty if not more so. Our development has been appalling. If you don't think so,name more than one player who has been properly developed in the past few years. I can't but I suppose there will be one lurking there somewhere.
If that is acceptable, then our (managements') standards aren't. Not all Dimmas fault. And don't start me on our recruiters, please.

Yeah, hi Tiger 71. I have been following Richmond since the old days in the stand at Punt Rd in the 50's. Seen the full gammet of our failures and successes. Like you and obviously a lot of others, the frustration can be overwhelming. I wouldn't mind if I thought we were moving forward but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Team list, recruiting, development and coaching just don't seem to improve.
So many contributors on Big Footy "get it" in one way or another and yet those who make the decisions seem to struggle in so many ways. Love to have the answers. I really hope that management do read these posts as there are some quite insightful views on here. And all with passion.

Here is my question.

Nathan Jones ripped us apart out of the middle. Time and time again he got the clearance out of the middle. At some stages he started on a wing ran in and still got the clearance. My question is why was he allowed to do that? When one player is having such an impact surely you sacrifice a mid fielder to stop that happening. I can see it sitting in the outer wing yet that can't be seen from the coaches box? If someone was allocated the job I couldn't spot it and their job was a disaster. In my view a simple fix or even a hindrance which was allowed to continue had a big hand in yesterdays disgrace.

Absolutely agree. Jones had 9 clearances and Vince 8. How could you not see that? I posted elsewhere that Dimma is not a match day coach and I can handle that to some degree IF there is someone in the box who is.
It really defies belief that a change wasn't made. For mine, that simple fact cost the Tigers the game. Fix that hole and you suddenly have clearances (or some anyway) going our way.
This is the sort of thing that frustrates supporters. We can see it and the professionals can't. Reminiscent of when no one was sent to help Cotchin against Collingwood.
And we as supporters can often see the problems, development, recruiting, development, match day coaching, development etc.( not forgetting development, match day coaching and recruitment of course) but I seriously wonder whether management are not blinded by something else.
Got me a bit stuffed.

If only, sadly I feel he has no clue as he continues to put absolute faith in the likes of those you mentioned

agree on hampson. griff to take over from Asbury yes on the day not played down back ? forget the match saving mark against carlton ? actually watch games ? mustn't as you fail to see where his marks long kicking and goals have been far more usefull fwd than back

Sorry to intrude... thought I would add my thoughts with a freo perspective.
Plenty of comments about Hardwicks match day nous. When Chris Scott left freo for the Geelong job the next year it became clear who was pulling the strings in the box, Harvey had no idea. So your board needs to make sure he has a decent 2ic.
Another was Ross Lyon's comment after he had settled in at Freo was the team was "hungry to be led". Your young men need a leader who they implicitly trust knows what he is doing. Hardwick breaking down in the presser will not help.
The other is that mid range teams expecting to improve have had the guts ripped out of recent drafts so those talented guys who would normally be pushing up to improve your performances are running around in at GC and GWS.
Would be a disaster if another coach was sacked and no guarantee a replacement would be better. Just got to surround Hardwick with a good assistant and keep grinding on by turning the list over and eventually some youngsters will come through to support your good top end.

Just got Dimma's dissection in the email. ..."kicking conversion cost us"...

Imo this was the single thing that made a difference. The fact that the rest of the game was junk was immaterial. If you have 51 I50's for 30 shots, you win the game no matter how bad you play.
