I loved the way he woulnd't touch the ball all year, then play against us and kick 5 and have 325 possessions. But he was a bloody good player.

When he was at his best, he was just about the best FF of the modern era. Great mark, and very rarely missed.

Will be interesting to see how Essendon go next year, without Lloyd & Lucas patrolling the forward line. Alot will be expected of Neagle and Hurley next year, and if Gumbleton can get on the park.

Used to be a good player until 3 years ago, and then became a tragic figure unable to accept that the game had gone past him. A very good career overall, but the gloss was taken off with that thug act in his last game.

I rate Fevola the equal of Lloyd, if not better, considering all the crap teams Fev's played for all these years.

Put it this way, if Lloyd played for Carlton from 2001 onwards, no way he would have gotten to 900 goals.

There is no way in hell Lloyd is one of all the all time great FF's, he is not a patch on Lockett or Dunstall ..
Or Bob Pratt or Peter Hudson either for that matter.

BTW I don't regard Lloyd as a thug, I prefer his nickname, the Velvet SledgeHammer

Lloyd was a great player, who killed us everytime he played us, in fact he was so considerate of us he didn't even let form slumps stop him from effectivly executing Carlton everytime he caught a whiff of us. We'll miss you playing against other teams

Absolutely agree. Like or loathe you had to respect Lloyds talent and professionalism as a footballer. If Fev was about as half switched on to whats required to be a champion we'd be talking about him as an all time great.

First of all, over the last 3-4 years, he has been a complete tool with his diving and thug like attitudes.

However that doesnt take away from the fact that he was a first class forward and will be missed by the dons next year.

I think that he was offered a choice... retire gracefully or get delisted at the end of the year.
