I wouldn't be too despondent. Sure you lost but it was looking at one stage to be a total blowout. You were unfortunate to get Port after four bad losses. Your kicking for goal early was what really let you down. Like a previous poster said you are still 6-6 and in the mix.

Or 7-5 unless we've been strripped of an ealrier win in the last few days? (Maybe Richo or Sydney whinged just enough to have the result overruled?)

Was at the game last night and was really dissapointed. First half we didn't move the ball quick enough, mucked around with the ball in the middle of the ground. Wasn't how we had played the last 4 weeks.

The last quarter was good to watch but it was to little to late. All credit must go to Port. They were the better team on the night.

There were a few positives -
- Laycock is steadily improving
- Nash was probarly BOG for us

FWIW everything we did in the first three quarters turned to gold, we could not stuff up if we tried, it really was one of those football nights where we were just blessed by the football gods. I don't think I have seen us play better than that for years.

So I would not get too despondent just yet, Hird, Lloyd and Hille cannot all play that badly together again surely.

I just came here to post the same thing. When Tredrea marked early on I had no doubt he'd kick it and from then on had no doubt we'd lose. Well played by you guys, very much deserved it. I had you as my big improver this year but I don't think I've tipped you right once in the last 6 weeks.

That loss should hopefully wake a few blokes up. Good time for the break. That bloody loss in R3 is the one that is hurting us.

I think we can stick a fork in Heff and Bolts. They're done.

Plenty of talk about Bolts, people saying he shouldn't have played &/or shouldn't play next week due to not having an obvious match up. I'm not his biggest fan & have been repeatedly suprised by his retention on our list, but I think his position in the team at the moment is justified.

The obvious match-up was on Chad Cornes, but we weren't to know that he would go to Hird & do so well. If Hird had smashed him early, he would have been sent to his regular half back sweeper role again where Bolton would have taken him (or Lloydy could have cleaned him up again, what a great bump that was a few years back!).

Next round I think he would match-up quite well on Cameron Bruce or Brad Green, both major keys to the Dees IMO. Therefore I think he should hold his spot.

Really, I think if we had to lose this wasn't that bad of a loss to have. We lost to a team who have got the potential to really fly but haven't been able to turn it on that often. They turned it on for us. I would rather lose to Port then lose to West Coast or Sydney as beating these teams proves that we have what it takes to match it up with the big guns.

When we were coming into these last three matches we would have been happy with 2/3, most people wouldn't have expected us to beat both sydney and west coast. So we feel pain because we are coming down from a massive high but really, look back 5 rounds and tell me you would have been unhappy to win 4 matches out of the last 5?

Of course, being thumped so badly is discouraging but we've proven that we have the ability to come back from that kind of early thumping so we can look forward to more exciting footy in the future.
