This arvo, headed out to the Distinctive Homes Dome for their open day to see the so called renovations.
Walked in, and the joint didn't look much different, besides a new paint job and the court being resurfaced. The new scoreboards/scorecube was merely a myth, as they haven't changed a bit.
Went up to the Apollo Room and the corporate boxes, which have undergone some real renovations. New carpet, new seating, new plasmas.
There's also the Rachel Sporn lounge, which wasn't open, so can't comment on that.
The new changeroom facilities look pretty good, and the new gym (which is an EFM gym available to the public) is fantastic.
As for the improved toilet facilities that everyone there was talking about there, all that was was a new coat of paint and a new sign on the main door into the toilet.
For those that attend regularly, there will be video coverage of every game at the Dome now (those not covered by Fox Sports will be covered in-house).
Overall, I found it to be all hype and very little substance to the improved facilities.
Then stuck around for the practice game against Brisbane. They only lost by 8 points, and were competitive for the bulk of the game. Saw some promising signs, especially Bellinger and Davidson. A big issue though is rebounding. Brisbane got way too many offensive rebounds.
With a year like last year though, the only way is up.
