Out of all the bands who's original members are still around, I would love the Divinyls to regroup, Mark and Chrissy did a couple of numbers when they were inducted into the rock hall of fame. The D's are in my top 5 Aussie rock bands of all time, I love the attitude they put in their songs and live they were pretty good too.

Does anyone think that the band could reform? A tour would be more likely but an album would not be out of calculations I reckon.

I'm pretty sure I head 4-6 weeks ago that they were going to reform, after Chrissie had finished with her 'Boy from Oz' touring - and were also being sought for the next 'Countdown' tour.

But I haven't seen any reports confirming if this is accurate or not.

Didnt they make a comeback in the late 80s with 'Touch Myself'?

If it wasnt a comeback, they certainly looked like it was a struggle.

That was their only #1 hit but they had by no means died as a group. They released another underrated record in "Underworld" some 5 years after their most successful "DiVinyls" self titled album. It was more pop than their previous edgy rock/new wave material, I didn't see it as a struggle, I was too busy checking Chrissie out on the video clip to note that.

That's fantastic news. The time is right with Countdown and 80's Aussie groups in focus atm, also to support the release of their greatest hits and to celebrate their R and R HOF induction. I've got the first ticket if they tour.

Don't think she would dust of those costumes again but as she once sung "I'm liable to do anything" Mark might get the missus to design the tour wardrobe.

The thought of CA standing on the edge of the stage at her age doesnt leave me with any feelings of fun

Beef curtains anyone?

Saw her at our local cafe a couple of months back. Don't worry she's still got "it". Although remember I'm not as young as I use to be either.:p
As for a reunion tour pretty sure it's on the cards. I know Rick Grossman has some Hoodoo Guru commitments at the moment and Charlie Owen the same with the Beasts and T,D and C but no reason they can't all hook up at least for a few shows.

Yeah she still has it. I remember she performed a subdued "I Touch Myself" on TV a year or so back when promoting her book which Mark has never read.

Her voice was in top shape there, it was intimate and stripped down. After all her excesses her voice has held up well. I go as far as rating her up there with the finest vocalists this country produced.

She has that sweet and soothing quality as well as her usual raunchy inflected style.

By far my favourite Oz group. Just typical hotel rock with a lot of punch.

I like most of their albums from the raw sound of the stuff from the Monkey Grip EP to the self titled Divinyls in 91. I Touch Myself was controversial but I also loved songs like Make Out Alright and Love School.

My favourite however was What A Life, which Pleasure and Pain, Sleeping Beauty and the bizarre Old Radio. Just loved the mix of that album which apparently took an age and 3 producers to complete.

Desperate was also pretty good and IIRC contained their version of Make U Happy which was a lot of fun.

I go back to one of their first songs Boys In Town

Reminded me so much of my cousin
Great song. It's on the Monkey Grip soundtrack. Excellent track to have in the car.

What a Life and Desperate are my fave Divinyls albums. Pleasure and Pain is an awesome number as well as the Good Die Young.

Anyone liked Undertow? I distinctly remember "Im Jealous" and "Human on the Inside" getting massive airplay around that time. Those ballads were among the most confessional Chrissy got, I really rate them. The construction and tight musicianship. "Im jealous" was even used on Melrose Place and should have been a massive world wide hit. It got to #14 here if I remember correctly.

It is a shame that it was their last album.

i Was Born And Brought Up Wrong
And I Don't ' Know Where I Come From
Mum Had Me When She Was Nineteen
A Never Was That Always Has Been
When I Grew Up I Went To School
They Tried To Make Me A Bloody Fool
I Woke Up And I Left That Place
Now I Run That Long Rat Race :d

Saw them 5 times on the Divinyls Joan Jett & the Blackhearts tour 1995

very good tour took in about every seedy venue in Australia

Yes, forgot about Good Die Young. Trying to remember the tracks without dragging out the album. The whole What a Life album was worthwhile.

Another song I liked a bit later on was Back To The Wall, which featured on Nightmare On Elm Street 3 IIRC.

Has anyone read Chrissys book from last year? Apparantly one Mr McEntee hasn't.

Classic song.
Another one I was trying to thing off and couldn't remember the title.

I knew when I met you
I would not forget
I knew I'd never let you go oh no no
never let you go-oh no no
never let you go

That is the best song off the Desperate album
