Whats a good cheapish setup DJ gear for begginers, I dont know whats better Midi controllers or just a normal deck, would love your opinions and help :)

Thanks guys!

Don't bother getting cheap shit, because it will end up being a waste of money if you decide you want to upgrade later. Also, quality investments like technics if kept in good condition will retain their value more than a $150 cdjay you bought from dixons. Using quality gear will also fast track you development- it's much easier to learn on professional equipment than a toy :)

Anyway... you need to decide firstly what you want to do; if you want to mix vinyl there's only the option of turntables, if you just want to play your digital collection you can choose between Serato Scratch Live (or Serato Itch) or Traktor.

Depends what you want to do? I recommend learning on vinyl if at all possible as it will give you a solid foundation to work on later.

So you mean like actual turntables/records, etc? I dont know about that really, I wouldnt mind basic scratching just on cdjs, but Im not too sure about the turntables.

Im pretty new to this so I dont have much clue as to what route I want to take!

With the mixtrack and mixtrack pro do you need to plug into a computer?

What is good about having a soundcard in the controller what does it do?

Thanks guys!

There used to be a really cool dj called clintdoggggggggg that posted here. He could help you. He new everything. And he was awesome at it. Best ever.

Whatever happened to that goose?

i bought a 2 channel pioneer djm mixer for around $500
2 cdj's 1000 $1500 each (this was around 7 years ago, maybe more)

still using that same hunk of shit awesome mixer

and the cdj's are still in top condition

so i spent the money straight up, went cheap on the mixer (but seriously it sits at home, not like im playing to festivals)

one of the best things i ever did

the more you spend the better it is, so figure out what you want to spend and work from there, because those cdj2000's look awesome especially with the advancements with digital music being so easy to store

Yeah Il spend as much as I can at the moment (not much :|) I would love the cdj2000s but dont see that happening haha!

Is the mixer really important too?

Thanks for all your help guys!

Whats your opinions on some Numark NDX400s and a M4 mixer? or M3 mixer whatevers better!

and also opinions on the ICD dj in a box?

What are some good songs to mix?

Thanks!

Some good songs to mix? Mate if you're not passionate about electronic music why even bother outlaying the cash in the first place? If you like electronic music but don't know much start with the pioneers. EG: Basic Channel, Model 500, Derrick May, Kraftwerk, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Squarepusher, Autechre.
