As far as I know there are some compatibility problems with DVDs. Does it depend on which DVD player you have? I want to buy a British DVD off amazon but I don’t want to waste my money if it can’t work on my player. I can’t remember the exact model number but it’s an LG.

Any help would be appreciated.

Certain DVD players can only play discs from the region they were purchased in. For instance, Playstation 2s purchased in Australia can only play Region 4 discs - similarly with our TEAC player in the lounge.

Luckily my girl bought me a TDE DVD player for christmas which plays all regions so there's no problems with purchasing/viewing discs from Canada, Britain or the US.

The best way to go (obviously I know) would be to test your player before purchasing somehow.

it might not play as aussie region 4, bristish have 2 region.

but if you have a mutli system(depending on how much you paid) there will be no worries, heck i sell dvd players for $90 that does everything from all regions to jpgs.... even burnt dvds ;)

Scousie you little ripper!

Oh, and to use a PS2 to play DVD's is a crime. Go out and spend the extra cash and get a player that gives you value for money with the features and quality that you need. A PS2 is not a good DVD player!

try ring up The Warehouse (discount store) they had dvd's that i sell/dyertribe has for around $90.

Kmart have been selling Magnovox DVD players really cheap.

They have been on sale quite a few times for $88. This includes a two year replacement warranty, so if it stuffs up, they will just give you another one, rather than send it away for repair (or you can just get your money back). BTW, only the Two Channel DVD player is multi-region apparently, and the 5.1 isn't.
