Remember that 2006 playoff series between Sacramento and the Spurs? Bonzi and Artest just beasted Manu and Parker. Bonzi averaged 25 and 12 or something stupid like that.

Anyway, coincedentally enough it was a contract year for him, and the Kings offered 35m/5yrs or whatever the full MLE was at the time. His agent promised him he could get better, so he politely declined.

3 years and 2 minimum contracts later, Bonzi is out of the league.

Meh, the supposed "closeness" of that series gets overplayed. Spurs played fine, winning 3/4 by double digits (and the other by 9), and it probably would have been a sweep if not for that Kevin Martin miracle runner in Game 3.

I watched a ton of him last year on the Hornets, and he stunk it up big time.
