AFL: Power stays put
AFL Lions
MELBOURNE, Sept 27 AAP - Star Brisbane midfielder Luke Power will stay with the AFL club.
Power ended months of speculation about his future by telling the Lions he would reject strong interest from several clubs in his home state of Victoria.
Team-mate Jason Akermanis had said last Saturday that it appeared likely Power would leave the club.

AFL: Power commits to Brisbane
AFL Nightlead
By Roger Vaughan
MELBOURNE, Sept 27 AAP - Ending weeks of intense speculation, star Brisbane midfielder Luke Power decided today his AFL future lies with the Lions.
Brisbane issued a statement late today confirming Power had resisted the "go home" factor and will stay with the club, where he is a three-time premiership player.
"I've had to weigh up a club in which I've played in three premiership sides and love dearly against the opportunity to go back and settle in Melbourne," Power said.
"In the end it was only the support of my family that allowed me to keep playing football at the club I love," Power said.
Several clubs, including Essendon and Collingwood, were understood to have expressed strong interest in Power if he'd decided to return to his home state.
The next step will be for Power to re-sign with the club and the 25-year-old will secure a lucrative deal, surely of at least three years.
Power would have been the biggest name in trade week, which starts next Monday, if he had decided to return to Victoria.
"It wasn't a contract issue, it was whether he was going to take the opportunity to go back and try to re-establish himself in Melbourne," said his manager, Ron Joseph.
"He just decided Brisbane was his club, it was a very difficult decision, made with the support of his family.
"I am sure everything will follow its normal course from here.
"It (the decision) caused a lot of angst - I hope as each day goes by now, he brightens up."
The All-Australian has played 154 games in eight seasons with Brisbane and has become one of its best onballers.
Outspoken Brisbane midfielder Jason Akermanis gave Power's decision some unwanted publicity last Saturday when he speculated that his team-mate would leave the club.
Akermanis also said there appeared to be a rift between Power and coach Leigh Matthews, who had made some public overtures earlier this season.
"I would be very confident Luke will be here," Matthews said in late May.
"He's like all of us, we can't leave. If we leave we're bailing out - when things get tough, we're bailing out and you can't do that.
"What does that say about your character? I'd be very, very surprised if Luke or any of our players who have been part of the last four to five years leave, because they're not that kind of people."

was he there in 03 as well??

that's disgusting..... and people go on about eddies COI.

No, Collis was in charge of Roccas hearing

Apparently its not that bad, I brought it up last year and people dont think its such a bad thing, apparently an Uncle isnt close enough to be COI

They are extremely close and he absolutely despises Collingwood

So we had a tribunal who hated Collingwood and wanted a Brisbane player to win another premiership, but no COI?
