I am genuinely excited about our teamin the coming years.
I'm guessing (but bet I'm right) that we'll wind up with 3 first rounders this draft and probably 2 second rounders. Marry those players up with Moore, Raines, Roach, Jackson, Gilmour, Archibald, Schultz etc and we have a core of really young players many of whom will play senior footy in 2005.
But I reckon we need one bloke to make them walk a little bit taller. Like the role Hamill plays/played at St Kilda when their boys were developing. Sort of a protector - the kind of guy who gives opposition teams second thoughts about "flipping with my boys."
As things stand, I don't see that we have someone to do that.
Maybe we need to think about someone to perform this function in either trade week or the PSD.
