Doc Martens are brilliant boots, been around for years. Try any good shoe store.

Well the ones I got were $150... and they were the normal black ones they sell. The coloured ones are obviously more expensive.

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a black pair of boots from an op-shop if they're only for one night?

Well, that's pretty interesting...

I don't think i'll be taking this option after all.

If you were going to a party as a punker from the late 70's/early 80's, what footwear would you wear?

I was contemplating getting a pair of Chucky Taylor's converse shoes, but I have no idea.

I paid about $150 (from memory) for some in about 1992!
I was so Eddie Vedder :p

dont forget your pipe and a few grams.

Define Punker?
If you want the Ramones type look Adidas romes are the go. If you want the "traditional" punk look lace up army boots would be the way to go.
I seem to recall that only Skins and Rude boys wore Docs in the late 70's.

My son always wore Docs as they were about the only thing he could get in his size. At least they lasted very well.

imho, it is the definition of "not-punk" to worry about what brand of shoes to wear. But, if you're wearing a punk costume, I guess you want to get some authenticity in your gear, so Chuck Taylors might go ok, Docs would match, (but they're bloody expensive for your purposes,) and ahhh, dunlop kt-26's would probly be too much of a "statement" if you wore them.

My Docs cost me $180 back in 1997, lasted for 6 years and sadly had to be thrown out this year. :( I definitely want another pair, the best boots I've ever owned.

Value for money given they lasted six years.

My Nike runners cost nearly $200 and only lasted 15 months .
