I have no stats at my fingertips - just a perception - that we dont seem to get as many draws in tests these days!

What do others think??

Draws hardly ever happen now, whereas by the 1980s there seemed to be more draws than results.

There's a few reasons for that - partly a more positive attitude to batting means runs are scored quicker. In the 1980s most Tests chugged along at around 2.5-3 per over, now it's closer to 4 per over. Also there's a minimum 90 overs per day - back then it was quite common to only have 75 or so overs if that. And if there is any rain, they can play an extra hour on later days to make that time up.
