dreadlocks

i am thinking of getting dreadies (for the past 2 years, whilst growing my hair), and im wondering if anyone on this forum has/had them?

i am interested in what type of dreadies did u get, eg. the comb back ones, or the twist and add heaps of surfy wax.
and also does/did it look even and neat, or uneven and messy, can u wash it and how much did it cost you?

I had dreadlocks about three years ago. Put them in myself, using wax among many other things. Looked good but required plenty of on-going maintainence. I'd recommend getting them put in professionally if you can afford it. They were a pain in the arse to get out!

nah. Does nothing for me really. Just makes me think that person doesn't wash their hair, and i dont want to touch it.

The guy I live with has them and has for about ten years. Him and his mates "produced" them many years ago. Apparently salt water helps??

Not exactly scruffy, streamlined I would have thought.
