Saw a group of what looked like 16 year olds clearly intoxicated whilst working their way through a slab of Somersby ciders out of a shopping trolley outside of Mentone Station this afternoon. Definitely gave the Mrs. and I something to chuckle about while we sat in traffic.

the choice of beer back then was usually between Emu Bitter or Vic Bitter, both pretty much identical.

I honestly couldn't tell the difference and just bought what ever was cheaper, neither were great beers but they did the job.

When I was in my final year of high school (1990), quite a few of us used to go to the Court House Hotel most Friday nights. We were only 17 and never got asked for ID. Then in January 1991 I went there on my birthday and was asked for ID. The regular bouncer at the door said happy birthday and just shook his head. This was around about the time they started cracking down on underage drinking.

We used to go to the Irish Club when we were underage as the cops never went in there and the staff there never checked ID, cheap jugs and pints too.
