A question, please, guys. I am a league fan first and foremost, but I do watch a fair bit of union (it's hard to avoid in the UK). Anyway, I was watching some French rugby the other day, and the attacking side barged over the try-line but were held up. So I thought, ah, that will be a 5 m scrum. But no. The commentary said something about 'under the new rules', and they dropped out from under the sticks, just like they do in league. Is this a new thing world-wide in union? I've never noticed it before. And, going on from that, does it mean that, as in league, if the defending side are cute enough to bounce the ball into touch from the drop-out, they get possession back?
