if the mp3 file was burnt to the CD as a mp3 file you will need a mp3 player to play it on.
depending on your CD player....some pioneer CD players wont read the cda format.

Depends what program you're using, how you burn the CD, etc.

Not enough information.

I use Nero Express to burn stuff. Normally I just copy from one CD to another, but I've got some MP3 audio files on my computer that I want to burn to CD.....

Yes you can burn MP3 to CD, I always use NERO Version 6 and never had a problem, just open the wizard and follow the steps, its very simple...:D

The Audio CD/Data CD thing is the issue, as gPhonque said.

If you burn as a data CD, then you have an MP3 CD, which can only be played in players that support that format. You should fit a couple of hundred songs in that format.

If you burn as an audio CD, then you've got a standard CD, which can be played in most standard CD players. You should fit either 74 or 80 minutes of audio.

My surround sound stereo that I just bought plays MP3s that have been burnt to disk. It is also a 60 CD Stacker...so imagine the hours, upon hours, of music that is possible.

However, like others have said, on most cd players, you can't burn MP3s directly to disk and listen to them. The files have to be converted first, or you need a burning program that converts them on-the-fly as you burn.
