Finally ditched ****ty pre paid and now just wanna leave the net running BUT don't wanna have to keep dialing up coz of autodisconnect. I don't have to wait for the autodisconnect to come up again to actually change this setting do i? There should be a way through settings somewhere?

Correct.

Most ISPs that offer dial-up internet access have a 4 hour session limit.

Dial Up settings, advanced, should be able to change it in there.

i think my ISP has a 4 hr limit, well thats what they say, but mine always stays connected for 5hrs. maybe cos i signed up b4 it changed from 5 to 4 or something.

anyway its good cos it doesnt have that stupid 'idle time out' argh i hate that!

Ring your ISP and tell them that you want to get rid of the autodisconnect option.

In 2000

Start -> Settings -> Dial up and Network connections -> Right click on your dial-up connection -> properties ->Options -> change idle time before hanging up to 'never' -> OK

In XP

Start -> Connect To -> Right click on your dial-up connection -> properties ->Options -> change idle time before hanging up to 'never' -> OK

and Suzi i am always 11th in the Q when i ring them and they have NO IDEA how to even connect a new customer...DUMB but cheap

True that. Most ISP help desks are people who have more experience in customer service and strong communication skills rather than computer skills. I'm pretty sure they read from cue cards.....so i've been told.
