Anyone help on this one? I have a home theatre system, but whenever I turn on the DVD so that I can watch TV with the all around sound, the quality of the picture degrades — enough to make it not worth the trouble.
Seems to be related to the proximity of the DVD player to the TV, but I can't move the DVD player into the next room just for that.
Any ideas?

Where have you got the DVD plugged in? It's not through the VCR is it?

Umm, I'm not sure (I'm at work). I don't think so, though the antenna cable is plugged in to the VCR I think.

How should it be configured so that I can record from the VCR, play videos and dvds, and also watch TV through the sound system, without interference?

Usually the best way is to do it through your amp. You should have inputs for DVD / VCR / Antenna / CD etc... and use the Amp as your splitter. You won't be able to record DVD's though if that's what you want to do.

I find that if I don't want to watch DVD's with surround sound i.e. daughter's wiggles disc; then I just have a spare lead to go direct to the TV which has several inputs for Video e.g. Video 1, Video 2, Video Out (antenna). Then when we're watching a proper DVD I can take the leads out and put back in the leads going to the amp and have surround sound 5:1 channel pr0n!
