The double alley is sick, and the Iguodala dunk is nice (although I think that'll get him a 9). The reverses are rubbish (well, relatively speaking).

He needs to pull out that kiss-the-rim from last year's practice vid, along with the double alley. Then he'll give himself a chance. I still think he's very much the underdog though.

Just saw it. Surely that last dunk ain't real? Got to be set up?

Yeah, I'm not buying. Great publicity stunt though.

Same here, because he's a nice dunker in game, but he hasn't shown me anything that could rival Vince for example. Though if he does pull it off, I will be expecting a lot more dunks from him in games.

you would think that after what, 3,4 years in the NBA Howard would be over the dunk comp by now and be practising his drop-step jump hooks or a nice midrange 10-15 footer, something resembling a go to move down the stretch...instead you get "After last years dunk contest i was very disappointed".........

Obviously he doesnt care enough about leading his team into a play-off series win and being the leader of his team and taking it forward.I would be filthy if i was a Orlando fan

Andrew bynum puts him to shame.there's a kid willing to work on the harder parts of his game and it has shown

do a bit of research before making yourself look and sound like a clown.

Uhhh after what happened at last year's contest, would you never want to participate in another dunk contest?

And Orlando are doing pretty well this season, and Dwight Howard is a big reason for that (even if he did get called out by SVG recently).

orlando are going along fine. The one thing Howard has been picked up on however is his lack of offensive moves.the man is a beast and can dunk like no other.I just fail to see why he would bother with this tripe contest and not be working his arse off in the gym adding to his limited array of moves,i.e a good midrange jumper or dare i say it, a bank-shot....

His coach just told him not to worry about offense...

Because he has no offensive move other than the dunk. Its a repeat of Shawn kemp in early 90's until he devloped that baby hook and shot off the elbow.then he was unstoppable 94-97 until he got fat.

He should be bust his arse in the gym trying to improve this and then the coach will slowly run more plays for him.

the defence rests

Are we talking about the same guy who when the rest of his teammates are relaxing on holidays goes out and hires a personal coach to help him with his offense (a coach which the Magic happened to fire earlier that year)?

The same guy that has spent hundreds of hours with a free throw coach?

The same guy who hasn't had any time off basketball in 4 years?

The defense needs to do some research still.

.

4 years he has been playing? I thought it was only 3,thats even worse then.If he has done all that work you mentioned above and can still only dunk well yes im talking about that guy.Needs to work harder at those freethrows you mentioned too because its gone down from 67% to 59% in the last 3 years.........

Sorry to shatter the the Howard fanboy club but Andrew Bynum is nearly 2 years younger, shoots at a better clip from the field and already has a better array of moves down low.Its probably cause he dosnt care about shitty dunk contests and spends his time working with Kareem to improve his game.....

Believe me you arent shattering anything. I know he still needs a lot of work but I just wanted you to have your facts right. I think the Magic organisation hampered his development of moves early and really he has only started doing anything in the past season.

He is developing a little baby hook which has been quite effective. His passing out of double teams has improved dramatically in the past year and even his drop step from the low post has gotten better. Most of this has coincided with the Magic hiring or to be more precise SVG hiring Patrick Ewing to mentor him.

You will not find a harder working player in the NBA than Dwight. Still has a long ways to go but to pay him out for spending 2 weeks having fun is a little bit ridiculous.

Bet Chicago fans must have been pissed at Jordan, when he constantly entered the dunk contest.

Kid is a beast, and is not used enough in the post. If I was an Orlando fan, I'd be complaining about him not getting the ball enough. That's the only thing I see stunting his development. He won't need a consistent jumper outside the 15 foot mark, as he's always downlow. His skyhook is getting better and he's only 22. Wait a couple of seasons and he'll be putting up Shaq 90's numbers.

no doubt he is a beast,i actually love watching him play, reminds me so much of my favourite player david robinson, just bigger and stronger, though not quite as athletic.Thing with robinson he was a high post player whilest Howard is obviously a low post player like Duncan.

I didnt intent this to be a bashing session. Was just quite suprised that he was still pissing around with the dunk comp. Most players do it for the first season or 2 to to put themselves in the national spotlight so to speak, which is fine, have no problem with that

However,Howard doesnt need to do that he is bordering on being an elite player in the NBA if he isnt already and playing for a young contending team.He should, IMO just concentrate on his fundamentals and get his team deep into the play-offs.

but in saying all that maybe Ive been watching the boring Spurs for too long

back to the topic of the practice dunks, i reckon he'll win it on a dunk which has'nt been shown as of yet;)

Huh? I can agree on stronger, but Robinson is the taller man, and Howard definitely has the better explosiveness. Robinson was probably quicker up and down the court though.
