HELLO everyone,

Would like to know some info on mclaren? Has he been training? Is he still injured with his back?

I still believe he can crack into the first side. I for one was very excited we recruited him from the Lions a couple years back, now that we have ackland and cloke his a no name. Does anyone know if he can play anywhere else on the ground besides ruck? Cause hes a verstile player?

Hes got enormous talents this kid still very young. I believe this will be a make or break seaoson for him since hes on the last year of his contract i hear? Whats the story with him?

Thoughts ON MCLAREN?

Another player counting down his contract as the Blues list improves and he slides down the pecking order. Some players looked good amongst other similarly talented players for a while but when the quality around them increases, they kind of stand out like a sore thumb. Was recruited as a back up ruck and started out okay. Back injuries plus added ruck depth = delisted after 2007 unless some major injuries keep him around as insurance. Needed to hit the ground running this season, but unfortunately this hasn't happened.

I too thought he could offer something initially. Seems like a decent bloke too. Ah well, such is life for an AFL footballer.

needs to have a solid year to be a chance of getting a contract renewal

proberly not as versatile as he needs to be for todays games as there is such an emphasis on speed

hopefully he can have a very solid year as come season end i'd rather have really tough decisions to make regarding players, rather than having the easy ones, as it would mean we improving as we need to be.

Looked O.K. at times in the backline last year, but all the BIG backline jobs are filled. His staying on our list depends on injuries, and how well Hamspon develops this year. If he looks slow to progress, as ODN points out Dylan may get another year as insurance for us. If Hampson does half of what we hope he will then it will be bye bye Dylan, and we will pick up another young ruck next year.
Aisake also the wild card. A good development year from either him or Hampson could spell the end for Dylan.

Dud - should be delisted asap

I agree that he's not a great player for us, and never will be. But with our ruck stocks being so sub-standard, we may need to hold onto him for longer than we'd like.

Hopefully by the end of the year hampson will have shown a bit of promise, and we can make some serious in-roads with our rucking division.

Nothing against McLaren, but when we recruited him, most supporters knew he'd never amount to anything at Carlton, we were not surprised when he wasn't getting a game, even though the likes of Deluca and Bryan were in the side. McLaren, wont play many games this season (if at all), he will be delisted at the end of the season, we have Ackland & Cloke now, and we have a couple of youngsters capable of playing in the ruck.

Bye bye Mr. McLaren

Mclaren i a useless footballer...clearly not made for the standard of AFL. I would say he is the 3rd worst player in the AFL behind 1. Henry Slattery and 2. Courtney Johns.................Mclaren will be gone at seasons end. Say no more

I also thought he was going to be a great pick up and I have been really disappointed in his performance to date.

After seeing how well Cloke went [OK one game] I believe Mclaren will struggle to get into the 22, and possibly be gone in 2008.

He is still only young but unless he can grab any opportunity presented then he is gone.

I knew very little about him when we recruited him,so I started watching Lions replays. Was very dissapointed then and even more dissapointed now.Honestly,at the Lions he was 4th in line at best and only played due to injuries.Sounds like a good bloke and all but that doesn't cut it.
