Out of contract at the end of the season and has put off contract negotiations... read - he will be returning home to Victoria at the end of the year. What a pick up he'd be, this guy is a jet. Apparently he barracked for the cheats as a kid, but he now dates Choco Williams daughter so it would appear Carlton and Richmond have the inside running. They're going to have to give up something pretty special to get it done. Having said that the Blues might be looking at 17th or 18th this year. I'm curious as to what we could offer to get a deal done. Maybe our first pick this year and Jack Watts? Plus throw in a set of steak knives and Jack Trengove.

I can tell you that GWS are hopeful they can retain one of those two but aren't 100% sure they'll keep both. You can bet your last dollar that we will throw huge contracts at both these two and see what happens. We have spoken to Shiel previously as well.

We should have the cashola, and be in a reasonable position trading wise ie we are going to get another high draft pick this year by the look of it. Problem is so will Carlton. I don't think Richmond will be able to get a deal done that satisfies GWS.
Box seat are Saints and Blues. If I was him though I'd come to either us or the Dogs if he wants success. Otherwise stay put.

Always preferred Shiel to any of the other GWS young midfielders. Not the most explosive, but sublimely skilled. Throw everything at him if we don't get Dangerfield.

Absolutely throw the kitchen sink at Shiel, he is an incredible player.

That said, I don't think he will leave the Giants.

If he does, Carlton will be front and centre for him. They will offer their top draft pick and pretty much any player on their mediocre list I reckon.

And we have to keep hold of N.Jones, Tyson, Petracca, Brayshaw, Hogan, McDonald, Salem, etc etc as well. We might end up having to offer Hogan a huge money deal too the way we're going. I don't think money will be the deciding factor for someone like Shiel, Treloar, Dangerfield, etc - there'll be plenty of that on offer.

I think we can get Shiel. He has a few ex team mates on our list already that can get in his ear. Furthermore we have a great trade history with the GWS, surely we can get a deal done that suits all involved.
