Most of his article was pretty stock standard untill right near the end.
Where he said "There not in the best half dozen midfielders in the league, but they have the potential to be the best three" (When refering to Headland,Pavlich and Haselby.
I was rather blown away by that comment, and the more I thought about it the more I tend to agree with him.

When you look at it its really has the potential to be the ultimate combination.
Haselby is hte master of confined spaces, able to get his hands feel mid tackle and give off quality handballs is very Ratten like.
Pavlich and Headland are as explosive as they come, able to kick the ball large distances and deadly accurate.
People claimed our midfield was our weakness, but if we keep this playing group together and there about 25-27 they could be every bit as potent as the Black,Voss and Ackermanis combination of today.
Throw in Schammer and you have a Lappin.

I am licking my chops with anticipation. I am really excited about Schammer and if they all combine I can see Famer & Medhurst running amuck

After reading your post, I was thinking about how our midfield could be similar to Brisbane's...

Hasleby is similar to Black - both win the hard ball with ease and are silky with their hands. Black would be quicker than Hase, although Hase would be better in the air.

Pavlich could be similar to Voss - Both are solid, tough midfielders excelling at all facets of the game as well as being capable of playing in the forward line to outmark their immediate opponent. Say no more.

Headland would be similar to Akermanis in that they are both quick, receiving midfielders with penetrating kicks on both sides. Headland also has a knack of finding the ball himself.

Lappin plays a similar role for Brisbane as Bell plays for Freo. Both are vital linkmen collecting 30+ possessions per game from all around the ground recieving handpasses and kicks to set up scoring opportunities.

Throw in Carr as a tagger as well as Schammer and Browne and our midfield looks to be in good hands for the next 5 or so years.

Obviously our midfield isn't quite as good as Brisbanes, but it certainly does have the potential  to be.
