Does anyone ever notice that people will wait until you give them feedback before giving you feedback, even if you're the buyer and have already paid, giving them no reason not to just leave you positive feedback instantly?

If I'm selling anything on eBay and the winning bidder has already paid, then as far as I'm concerned they've done their part and I leave feedback within a day or so, but when I'm the buyer these pricks always wait until I get the item and leave them a nice little comment, before doing the same for me.

It feels like they're holding you to ransom, give me my positive comment or I'll drag your name through the mud.

l hear what your saying,l always pay for my items straight away after wining them.but l have to give feedback first umm surly if they stuffed up eg with late posting/shipping.l should be able to give a slightly bad feedback with mine still being prime.l know there are business on there they wouldn't bad feedback. But if they do the wrong thing like any other seller you should be able to give a bad feedback

I think it's fair to wait until you've received the item to make sure what it is and that it's in ok condition before leaving feedback. Call it holding it to ransom if you like but you would be angry if you left positive feedback then either didn't receive the item or it wasn't what was described/ in poor condition.

I don't care about to be honest, I have had some people leave feedback months after I sold them the item. If I am only little feedback then it would get a bit annoying.

if i receive the money...i give feedback straight away.

Buyers are the worst...they take your feedback and item and dont reciprocate.

****ing dogs

I use ebay heaps in my business (as a seller). The reason most sellers wait for feedback from buyers before giving their own is just common sense: once both parties are satisfied, it's logical that both should leave positive feedback. The only way the seller can ever know the buyer is satisfied is when the buyer leaves positive feedback.

What if the item is damaged in the post? What if the item is stolen from the buyers letterbox before they get it? Everything needs to be resolved before both parties leave feedback.

As a sidenote, you do realise that sellers cant leave negative feedback anymore dont you? Which is worse if you ask me. Holding stock for morons who obviously change their minds and dont wanna pay you and refuse to respond to your emails is a pain in the ass when you're trying to run a business... They should be held accountable in some way.

Yep, why did they take away the option to leave negative feedback? I didn't see anything wrong with the system before.

Until last year I was fairly active on ebay, mainly as a seller. If someone bought something off me, as soon as I had received payment as far as I was concerned the buyer had fulfilled their obligation so I'd leave feedback for them.
As a buyer it shits me no end when a seller won't leave feedback until after I've left it for them. I've message a few and mentioned this and they give me some crap story about getting negatives after they've left positives.
Here's a tip sellers, if your service is up to scratch ie don't scrimp on packaging, addressing, registering where required then you shouldn't have a problem.
One of the biggest furphies on ebay is sellers putting disclaimers down the bottom about Australia Post. I owned a post office for 5 years up until mid '07 and in all that time there was genuinely only 1 letter and 1 parcel go missing over the 100s of 1000s that I handled.
I have feedback of 1174 @ 100% from a few thousand transactions. ebay's new rules on feedback, paypal eventually turned me off it.

I forget at times, but most times I give positive feedback.

I'm selling a fair bit of car parts lately as we have a Project Valiant we are working on and have so far cut up two parts cars to help ours out.
