Barlow played only seven senior games this year with his last game being in round 11 against West Coast.

He averaged 12 possessions a game and kicked six goals for the season, a little down on his 2007 form.

“It was a bit disappointing because I started well but fell away dramatically,” Barlow said.

“The injury really knocked me back but the hamstring is good now and I guess it was a bit of a learning year for me.”

Barlow returned to footy through the Swans reserve grade which he concedes was difficult to adjust to.

“To be honest, I kind of just assumed I could float through after 2007,” he said.
“Going back to reserves, I got caught out a bit and dragged my feet through this year.”

Not bad for an off-season puff piece.

I'm a little unsettled at the fact that he sounds like Nick Davis in that article. Let's hope that in his case he actually means what he says and we won't hear it all again next year.
