Anyone else looking forward to the upcoming solo album from Ed Kowalczyk (for those who don't know he is the former lead singer of Live). It is due for release in Aus on 2nd July.

I have heard the single Grace and it sounds pretty good.

yeh i am. still get his fanclub emails. that gig at the norwood town hall last yr in front of 300-400 or so was one of the great gigs ive been to.

I was a huge Live fan back in the day but Ed progressively went all hippie-touchy-feely-love-love-love in his lyrics (and tried to go up a key in his vocals) and things were just never the same. The Distance To Here was a good album, but also the beginning of the end for my love affair with the band.

Definitely curious to see how both Ed and Chad/Chad/Pat go with their new projects.

Yeah I have listened to the album already I quite like it it doesn't quite rock the same way as their old stuff and is a little bit more pop but I really like it! And he's ditched that damn falsetto from the last album which means its already 100 times better!!

Not his best work that's for sure. Infact, most of it is his worst, and a step down from Songs from Black Mountain.
'Grace' is by far the best track, and his best song since 03. 'Stand' and 'Zion' are quite good,'Soul Whispers' starts off brilliantly but falls away, and 'drive' is ok even if it is a rip off of Kelly Clarkson.
The rest, well you can picture Christian camping youth groups sitting around a fire holding hands listening to it in the woods.

Dun think I agree there mate the last album other than perhaps 2 songs was not much good. grace, stand & zion are 3 great songs in my opinion and I would also add in your light and drive as songs I like. fire on the mountain is a nice cruisy song and while a bit cheezy drink is quite nice to listen too also. Actually I really only skip 2 songs when I listen to it - the great beyond and rome. I can happily listen to the rest whereas if I pop songs from black mountain in I only listen to mystery and wings (and try to ignore the falsetto!) and then change cds! Anyway its proving quite a popular album so far its no 4 on the charts in holland according to wiki.
