His election as President is probably the most significant event in the clubs history over the last 50 years.

I believe his legacy will stand up equal with McHale and Rose.
Never a truer word written, the best president running around atm bar no one, just need a bit luck of luck to win another flag or 2 to give reward for effort he deserves that.

Here we go.....

We wouldn't have been a club to make that bad decision if it wasn't for Eddie.
Sorry but he doesn't get a free pass from me which he loses that much money. If we were the bulldogs or kanagroos we would be gone for good.

Also I don't like the fact that he has abandoned the club midseason to call the Olympics. I want the president of my club to put the best interests of the club first before any personal interests.

Big deal eddie went and did olympics,he is an unpaid president who needs to make some money to feed the family, what else did you expect?

Well we aren't north or the bulldogs,we were headed that way in the late 90's,but look what eddie did.I love the great man,its a dream come true having a president who is as passionate about the club as he is.

Actually i'd prefer james brayshaw like that other dude said...hahahahahaha yeah right

methinks he is one president who is not there for the power the position represents but to use his power to further his passion: cfc. can't be a better reason for leadership. gunna make mistakes, like anyone who acts from passion but there for the right reasons, not like the past.

I have managed to convince my English fiance to give our first born the middle names "Eddie McGuire". Now if I can just get her to agree on Buckley for a first name...

BTW, what happened?

he has a contract with channel 9 that says he has to go... do u think no other president has ever taken a break mid season?

Sorry mate I dont have a link...

My old man showed me the footage the other day.

How good is Eddie in this video

Thanks for the vid.

Eddie stands out in the sea of anodyne corporate drones as a man who carries a deep passion and true belief for a cause.

He wont win a popularity contest. His results though are undeniable, and his leadership is respected by the ones who matter the most, us!

I remember I was at Parklife (at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl) that day and all the pies fans watching gave out a massive roar when this came onto the screen.
All the while down below the saints fans were piling out of the g.

Out of curiosity was anyone else on this board there that day?

If it cost that much to win a flag, i'd do it again.

The man delivered us a flag. I am forever grateful.

I was there mate. Both this game and the week before.

The feeling was unbelieveable. Loved every minute of it.

Even though watching the replay we really killed them, I only realised we had it won in the last when Harry got the 50m penalty and drilled a goal.

Best day. I remember a guy I didn't know basically spear tackled me to the ground (I'm a pretty big guy too lol) screaming "WE'VE DONE IT! WE'VE DONE IT!". I couldn't even be angry at him lol.

I have a video somewhere on youtube where all the pies fans are in a huge circle singing the song. BEST. DAY. EVER.

Was that you in the carpark getting spear tackled ?

Presidents of AFL clubs do not get paid. It is their daily job that brings bread/wine to the table. So if Eddie has to travel to the UK (god rest his soul) to supply food and water for his family, then so be it.

I love the part in the Vid where the bloke in front goes to shake his hand and Ed is like "Not yet... Not yet"
Years of pain and the elation of winning a flag. Sensational.

Every other club would be trying to poach Eddie if they didn't know how much he loves his Pies

People I know tell me that he isn't the nicest boss to work for but I'm a member, I don't work for him, and as far as I'm concerned he saved our club from mediocrity in the 90's. I remember those dark days when even opposition supporters started pitying us.

Eddie made sure everyone hated us again. Bless his Armani cotton socks.

No. After signing off on a couple of dodgy pubs investment which cost the club more than $10m of members money, I wouldn't think so.
He has made that back ten fold, we make $60m gross each year, yeah I know that ain't profit, but before Eddie came on board we weren't generating anywhere near that much much money into the club. We have record membership and crowds, and the sponsors just can't stay away. Eddie has us in a fantastic position going forward and we will never go back to those dark days while he is at the club. $10m dollars, sheesh, that's 10 weeks work these days.

James Brayshaw doesn't even go to their games

Get your facts right please. I can agree with most things written on here about eddie as he does do a great job for football and supporting smaller clubs like mine. More often poor people who strike it rich quickly forget where they came from. Brayshaw isnt eddie but he does go to most of our games and the only games he missed are the ones he was committed to via his media contract. The man is allowed to feed his kids surely.

I am sure you are probably right but you need to remember that this is a Collingwood forum and that your posts will not be met with good grace. Your better off enjoying your great win with your own supporters.
