Universal Love Eighties

Icehouse masterpiece.
Supported Bowie on the Europe tour.
Davies was an early adopter of the Prophet and Fairlight computer (named after the Sydney suburb) synths.
Fairlight synth is featured in the film clip.

Eighties is an important era in music.
Thought I would start a thread with important but lesser known stuff.
Thought of this song the other day.
A long lead in by Bowie.
He was also involved in The Hunger.
Negative haters of Cobain etc GAGF.
Wouldn't p$ss on them on fire.

Thanks for that.
Was unaware of that version.
Just listened in passing to a small part of the Bowie original the other day, and remembered it today.
Very unusual song structure as it has such a long-lead in and a slowed down first chorus.

Probably a lower vocal range for David on the song, they might have mixed it lower.
It's just an obscure pick when people mention Bowie - and its always make me think of the Danzig version when they do.

There's an interesting podcast apparently featuring Nile Rodgers, who produced Let's Dance in 1983, Bowie's global smash hit success album.
The year after Cat People.
Rodgers mentions he had been brought in to reinvent Diana Ross' career by producing the Diana album, but apparently the record label shelved his original production of the album.
Rodgers of course produced the InXs smash hit, Original Sin, in 1983.

Diana Ross is hardly seen out at all in public these days.
Only select events.
Very rarely tours.
Apparently lives on Upper West Central Park.
Not far from the Dakota Building, an eerie place to pass.

Early 80s she was quite often Michael Jacksons body double. You can see it.

One of Iva's best songs in my humble opinion.
It stands up well over time as an Icehouse classic.
The phase out of keys to the bass is well done.
