You lost me at Ellen.

Annoying campaigner.

I think it's great. Us women are paraded around as sex objects 24/7. A bit of balancing it up a bit.
So what you're saying is it's OK to parade women around as sex objects as long as you do it to men as well?

I can live with that.

I think it's an informal way of righting wrongs. I once said that political correctness is societal overcorrection working in favour of the previously discriminated against. But it's also a mechanism which enables those who are presently discriminated against to feel less discriminated against.

One thing that's ironically left out of political correctness is the propensity for all and sundry being politically incorrect towards the most privileged demographic; the white, English-speaking male, predominantly in the broad middle class subset of society, generally between the ages of 18 and 65. Being politically incorrect towards this demographic is not frowned upon, because it's only one thing that they've apparently ever had to endure. A good mate once said to me: "You and I; we're in our twenties, we're white, we're male, we speak English as our first language, we're financially stable, we have good jobs, and we're well educated. We can't call discrimination for shit!".

It's why African-Americans can call white guys "cracker" without so much as a "how do you do?".

It's why Belinda Heggen was able to emasculate Ten News Adelaide's Mark Aiston by making a joke about his dick size on the air, without any action being taken, because it was apparently light-hearted banter. Caro, anyone?

And it's why Ellen DeGeneres, as a universally-admired woman, who also happens to be lesbian, is able to make politically incorrect asides about men.

Do I think it's wrong? Well, I think it goes against the minority groups main dictums of fairness, equality and non-discrimination.

Back slightly on topic, who GAF about Ellen?

I'm assuming her show is on during the middle of the day on Channel 10 when the bored housewives/mummy bloggers etc. have nothing to do.

She has a target market and a format aimed at said market. If you're not in that market then it's better to just press the virtual ignore button.

Yeah, and you never STFU about it.

Women: 'Women shouldn't be objectified'
Also women: *follow Kim Kardashian on Instagram*
Also women: *make group bookings to see Magic Mike XXL*
I don't do the 2nd two but you have to admit it's pretty hilarious watching a man having a whinge about being objectified sexually.

Who, me? Or in general? I think anyone who complains about being objectified but is happy to do so to others is full of shit.

I find objectification of women funny because women do it more to other women than men do.

Just look up the cover of Cosmo, Cleo, Women's Health etc. on Google images and see what it spits out.

I think there is a lot of sarcasm in her shows, comedy same as the possibility to talk without having any troubles!

I've never seen a male buy those magazines at the front counters of supermarkets.

You know, the ones with the latest (unhealthy, unsustainable) diet fads. And the ones showing celebrity womens stretch marks, or flappy biceps, or big guts. Or the ones showing the latest breast enhancement/plastic surgery on the Hollywood actress.

Who do I see buy those types of magazines? Women. Of all ages.

But I, as a white 20-something male, am the reason women are objectified.

Yeah, right.

Uh uh. What about the millions of men worldwide who watch pr0n, go to brothels, see strip shows, buy shit because its being marketed by women not wearing much.

Women are so objectified its not funny. If you can't see that you must be blind.

Midday on Channel 9.

The women at my old jerb used to put it on during the lunch break

It's just one of those typical women shows. Nothing edgy about it.

Having been unlucky enough to have stayed home a few times over the years as a bored sick schoolkid, I happened to come across this garbage a few times. I really don't see the appeal at all, even when I try to think what it would be like watching from a women's perspective. Same goes for most of those late night US TV shows to be honest. Most of the celebrities are there to flog some new book/show/movie/product that they're involved with, the hosts love making the show all about them, and the interviews have some interesting things in them, but can be too short. When I was in the US for a few weeks with cable TV at hotels, I couldn't understand how you'd choose to watch these shows so often

Blew my mind when I saw her name on a list of top comedians. Don't think I've ever laughed at her.

TBH I don't think many men would have an issue with some of the things you listed (male dancers, poking fun at men), it's just that many think it's bullshit that we get criticised for doing the same.
