Hard to say Kangas. He had a fairly good season last year didn't he? Anything is possible these days and no position is secure (Look at Langer and Slater on the Ashes tour). Elliot has got some tough competition with Hussey from WA doing some good things in England.

I can't see Matthew Elliott being selected for Australia again. I think that too many have moved passed by him in the selectors eyes. It's a shame because he really is a class bat.

I disagree ... Slater deserves to be there ... and I hope the selectors have the same view.

You always need a player like Slater in the side. And he will come good again this summer.

Actually Masey i quite like Slats myself, always entertaining, but i reckon Elliot is a better opener, he hasnt been given a quarter of the opportunities of Slats or Langer or Ponting even ...... IMHO

Ponting should have been dropped at some stage ... but hasnt!

Slater is my favourite player hehe!

Slater only makes runs against the poms...and cant even do that anymore. Should be given the big A. Elliott is no chance, unless he scores heaps of serious runs..i.e. double hundreds. The selectors will probably stick with langer, Elliott pissed someone off in the caribbean just before the world cup 99, and will not get a sniff. That Love bloke from Qld may get a gig, or Hussey from WA.

The opening pair should be Blewett and Elliott Slater is the weakest link in the team and Hayden's for is guarnteed to run out against the South Africans like Eliotts did against the West Indians.

Don't forget Justin Langer scored a ton in the last Test we played. They wont pick Blewett again. I think Hayden and Langer will open in the first Test.
