Good news from MRP

Contact between West Coast’s Xavier Ellis and Hawthorn’s Cyril Rioli from the first quarter of Friday’s Second Qualifying Final was assessed. The panel said Rioli was going back with the flight of the ball and seeking to mark, with Ellis coming towards him and seeking to spoil. Rioli turned in the air as he completed the mark. Ellis made contact with the ball initially with his fist and then made subsequent high contact with his bicep to Rioli. It was the view of the panel that Ellis was legitimately attempting to spoil the ball and the matter was dealt with on-field at the time with a 50-metre penalty to the Hawthorn player. No further action was taken.

In the unlikely event he was suspended, would have made match committee a little easier... 2 spots with McGinnity the only obvious omission.

It will probably be Selwood, but Ellis/Butler didn't exactly set the world on fire.

Ellis & Butler are vital cogs in our backline. Experienced and composed, and have finals experience. Both offer more than Selwood x100

Agree with both posts above. Mids out and mids in which is why the only changes I can see will be McGinnity/Selwood for Masten/Priddis.

Selwood is unlucky though, thought it was one of his better games for the year (in fairness hasn't exactly set a high bar).

Selwood was good value on friday night I thought. He did turn and blindly throw the ball onto his boot a few times but the Eagles got on the end of those pretty much every time.
He has missed a lot of footy this year and he should be better for the run.
He is chance definetly if there is a withdrawal before the prelim.

He`ll be better I hope and what hasn`t been mentioned is that he played for East Perth v Claremont on the Sunday and then ran out on Friday game v Hawks.

Lucky I would've thought, Rioli had marked it and Ellis was late. Copped him in the face too. It was split second stuff though.

Replay shows Ellis hit the ball a glancing blow first and then collected Rioli high .Ellis Was lucky the MRP actually bothered to look closely at the replay .
