Love this band. Their 3 Light Years trio of Eldorado, Face The Music and On The Third Day is sensational IMO.

Back in 1990/91 a brought their compilation AFTERGLOW, it was a large boxset with three CD's including all their hit singles, B-sides and some unreleased tracks. Even though I liked most of the songs it's still the only ELO album I own, I never felt the need to explore their back catalogue like a lot of other bands from the period.

went through a ELO phase about 5 years ago, some really great songs but most of their albums i thought were pretty weak.

having said that their last album 'Zoom' was one of my favorites.

Yeah love Zoom.

No one would ever guess this but they're one of my all time favourites.

This song is just brilliant.

Great band.

Telephone Line, Last Train to London and Mr Blue Sky are my top three.

There is no other song that can get me in a great mood like Mr Blue Sky. Remember listening to it to cope a couple of years ago during a rather torrid time. It helped a lit.

Jeff Lynne is one of the most glaring of absentees from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Has anyone noticed a vocal phrasing that is uniquely his.... "the sun is shi-a-I-a-I-ining" that was from the Wilburys "You Took My Breath Away" and there are a few of these phrasings on the ELO songs

'Time' has always been one of my favourite albums of all... time. I always held an affinity with it and it was only in later years that my dad told me that the day I was brought home from hospital from being born was the day he picked up 'Time' on vinyl, he whacked it on and sat my crib on top of the speakers. It truly became part of my DNA.

Also glad to see XTC mentioned in this thread... I could do a whole day criss-crossing between ELO and XTC. Them and Fischer Z, who are also wildly underrated.
