Heard that he is heading for our shores once again. Who thinks that Elvis is underrated these days? I certainly do. I loved his recent album "The Delivery Man" it's a great record almost comparable with his late 70's string of classic records. Also when discussing rock vocalists, Costello's name rarely comes up. His voice is one of the most distinctive and emotive that I have ever came across. Theres the aching "Alison" and songs that proove he has lost none of his vocal brilliant the catchy as hell "Bedlam" and the aching "The Delivery Man".

Who is going to see him when he comes over?

By the way what your top 5 EC records?

Mine are:

This Years Model
My Aim Is True
Armed Forces
King Of America
The Delivery Man

Loads and loads of talent here.

Can't put in any order but here goes.

King of America (first side Our Little Angel, Little Palaces)
The Juliet Letters (great car music, with the Brodsky Quartet)
Spike (your nobody, til everybody, in this town, thinks you're a bastard)
Imperial Bedroom (You Little Fool)
Painted From Memory
(with burt bacharach, not sure if it is a sellout, or a ********take)
Armed Forces (consistent pop)

Hang on thats 6.

As he changes styles, like i have hot dinners,
that'll have to do.

Every time I see the name Elvis Costello, it reminds me of an old Kenny Everitt show way back on the ABC, introducing a film clip as a drunk Scotsman.

"And noooo, it's either the Boomtown RRRats, or Elvis Costella. I cannae tell, I'm too p1issed" :p

His songs "Veronica" and "So Like Candy" were co-written with his mate Paul McCartney. There are also about half a dozen of his collaborations with McCartney on Paul's albums "Flowers In The Dirt" and "Off The Ground".

The combination was a good one in my opinion.

The best song to come out of this was "My Brave Face"

My overall favourite song of Costello's is still "Allison"

Radio Radio (the ultimate FU song to radio at the time).
Oliver's Army
I want you
I don't want to go to Chelsea
Accidents will happen

Thank God he never collaborated with George Harrison, or we'd never hear the end of it.

George made more music with his friends that is unreleased than what the Beatles and The Who did combined :p

I know of several things Elvis and George mucked around on.

In the vaults he has enough material for several old time 30's and 40's ukelele standards albums, including Elvis, Petty, even John McEnroe of all people!

I reckon that he and Stephen Stills ought to collaborate on a tribute album of old Ray Charles songs.

"Blind, Ignorant ************".

Would get full closure on that unsavoury episode.
