i rarely use my hotmail address or msn anymore because of all the garbage. My junk mail block is full to capacity however my friend tells me there is some new thing to only accept emails from ppl u know or something? Anyway i flicked the fathers old computer on just to check the telstra email address and bugger me dead it was full of spam just like hotmail. Now how on earth did this happen this is a "@telstra" email address. Do you think they have sold our email addy to someone like they are trying to do with our phone number which is still getting up to 5 prank calls every morning and night!

Damn these spammers, i remember a thread here (i think) a while ago that had links about how some people got a hold of a spammer's house address and sent him a whole heap of stuff! Karma there. Anyway i myself have experienced a new form of spam: when i have msn on, suddenly a screen will pop up as if someone on my msn list sent a message to me. Instead it's somebody or something with pr0n crap asking me to visit this site to see dorm viewing or something like that.

You need to go into the options on your hotmail account and set your junk mail filter to 'Exclusive' (you will only receive e-mail from addresses appearing in your Contacts or safe list, service announcements from Hotmail, and e-mail that you have consented to receive from MSN) & set 'Deliver to Junk Mail folder and delete later' to start off with just in case something legit slips through.

Then add all your contacts to your safe list. Everything not on your safe list will go into your junk mail folder and is deleted automatically after 7 days. I still check it to see if any good mail got through but i don't have to worry about deleting anymore. The junk folder doesn't count towards your 2mb of space either.

Junk yes, trash no. Anyway i only use the middle option of the junk mail folder. The reason is that i still get emails from all kinds of people my uni, and i can't be stuffed looking at my actual uni account so i forward it all to my hotmail. Anyone know how to block spam msn messages?

You can block individual addresses but there is a limit of about 200 I think. Once your on a junk email list somewhere it's basically useless to stop them as for every one you block a new one will turn up.
