I remember when at the end of last season many in this forum were asking for Embley to be traded. I wasn't one, but I must confess I wouldn't have minded if he had been traded. A lot of members of this forum were talking up his "potential" and I kept thinking that "potential" doesn't do any good by itself, if the player concerned doesn't back it up with performance on the field.

I am very glad that all of you that were batting for Embley last year were correct, as he has become a very important player for us, and I thought he was one key to winning the game against the magpies.

I think this change in fortunes has come about by a combination of 2 main things. First, a maturity from Embley that usually comes with growing up and learning from life experiences.

The second factor is John Worsfold, I think he has instilled in all our players a new confidence and self belief. This quote comes from an article from Scot Palmer in today's Sunday Herald Sun: "the determination and confidence Worsfold had given to the Eagles in only his second year."

I think that this rare ability to get the best of a group of people is what has made such a great turnaround from only 18 months ago. Wosha has made it possible for eagle fans to feel joy again on being a supporter.

Thank you Embley for your new attitude.

Thanks Wosha for being such a great leader of men.

I for one thought that Embley would be integral to our future success.

In general when recruiting 17 year olds to the Club we have identified raw potential. Both as Footballers and people. Sometimes we need to remember that.

Please let them allow time to mature as footballers and people. Andrew Embley, like others on our list, is now maturing as a footballer and a person.

In the past I have felt the Club has recruited and then delited players to hastily. I think you will see Woosha have a small turnover of players each year. As Carlton have done. You cant win a Premiership with a Team of 17 - 20 year olds.

Have patience.

Go Eagles!

Uhuh thats true. Woosha is putting faith in his players and they in return play for him. All in all it works out well!!

I was one who was calling for his head. I have to admit I now know I was wrong, but at that point in time, his career was looking shot to pieces, he was looking lazy and disinterested. Off field problems did not help and though he had the charges dropped, it still did not look good for him.

I am glad the lad has decided to pull his head in and I am sure a few wise words from the great man himself as well as the coaching staff has turned Andrew into a better player who now is showing the talent the WC knew he had.

I am glad to be proven wrong.

Yep! For sure! Im glad whatever happened to wake him up, woke him up because it was just in time!

All I know is that the Port supporters who were laughing at the thought of their first round draft pick for Embley should go off and reassess that laughter....

We had the last laugh over Embers!!

I'll admit that I was very frustrated with Andrew Embley for the past two seasons because he had so much potential, but wasn't showing/being able to produce it on an AFL level.

At the end of last season I wouldn't have been upset if we traded Embley but now I wouldn't even consider getting rid of him, as he'd be in our best 22.

I'm also guilty for calling for Embley to be traded, however, he's proved me wrong and has played some fantastic football

An important part of our 22 now

My spies tell me that he was sat down and given a stern talking to at the end of last season. Basically a "shape up or we'll ship you out " king of deal.

Obviously he decided (with a bit of subtle coersion :))to shape up.

He probably also realised that if he doesnt make it playing footy, he'd have to get a real job
