Another gutsy win for the Adelaide Crows after being left once again 2 men down. Seriously though, when was the last time the AFC has played full 4 qtrs with a fully fit 4 man interchange?

Was at the game today and had to comment on the emotion involved around the AFC today. I dont know whether it was the noise echoing around the bays today making it appear louder than it actually was, but the cheers for the boys today after Porps went down was top notch :thumbsu:
Really fired the boys up and IMO was the loudest I've heard the crowd in a long while.

Was also good to see some of the younger guys fly the flag after Porps went down today, ala Campbell, Symes, Moran, and of course as usual Big Ivan :D
Always cringe when a player goes down, to see none of their teammates go in and give a bit to the thug responsible.
Some of our senior players need to take notice and get involved a bit more, as we really lack that tough player and presence around the ground some times.
Im hopeful that Campbell can take up this role :D Not a thug, but not afraid to give it to an opposition player who's dishing it out. But I am yet to see this from him in the tri-colours.

Reactions from the players after some of the goals today was also something I was happy to see. Was good to see some emotion rather than some pathetic high five.

In all, just wanted to comment on this and would like to see a bit more of this stuff from both the AFC and the crowd. Really thought it made the difference in the result of todays game.

(Also, Thumbs up to the members of the crowd that started the 'Cheaters' chant :thumbsu: )

Was rocking after the Porps hit.

Probably the best roar when Gill kicked one out of his rear end and it tumbled through :D

Wasn't at the game today and didn't get to see it but great to hear how loud the crowd was and it seems that it was the Porplyzia injury that sparked things. I hope this is a lesson to the AFC. Crow-o-meters, ground announcers, "c'mon Crows fans let's make some noise - Adelaide... Adelaide..." Member's call to arms, funk squads... these things don't fire up the crowd. Passion, courage and emotion does.

All that insulting crap should be ****ed off immediately.

Just to clarify, in no way was my original OP meant to degrade the quality of emotion that our supporters or our players show towards the AFC. I am merely trying to point out what I believe was the difference in todays result compared to that of others. I leave many games feeling that maybe the result could have been different if a few of the supporters around me had showed the same support to the boys as I had.

We are a proud football club, with proud supporters and proud players.

These gimicky little ploys are all in good fun, but we really need our supporters and players to fire up more often.
Our crowd atmosphere is really lacking of late.

You're insulted by it?
Of course. Being told when to cheer should be insulting to any football fan.

And it is embarrassing that we have had to stoop to these NBL tactics to manufacture crowd atmosphere. Seeing a few games in Melbourne recently and it simply doesn't happen there. (Though I do remember the Woof-Woof attempt at Footscray, which didn't last long).

The club is basically admitting that our crowds are less passionate and knowledgeable than those interstate, therefore some buttons need to be pushed.

I would be interested in the numbers of how many supporters in the crowd have been members since day 1, as they are all know almost 20 years older, which may explain why they lack the crowd support.

I notice in the crowd from my vantage point that I rarely see many young supporters which may explain the lack of passion. Sure you will get the odd over 50 supporter yelling but they all dont !

Dont worry the super boxes are no better just people getting upset if their 3 course meal is cold or the Crows are down by more than 4 goals, you should see the knives come out when that happens !

Gill's goal was gold, everyone went nuts. And as much as i hate to say it, Porps's getting knocked cold was the best thing that happened to that game.

Very gutsy win.
I was at the game and really surprised when the final siren went.
It mustve been a short qtr.
I was stoked with emotion and damn bloody proud of the way we ran to the contest in the last 15 minutes. Benny Rutten you are a star and staved off a possible win to the Baggers...good stuff.

I think we didn't have a first round draft pick in that side against Carlton other than Massie that I can recall, what does say for the character of the club. Carlton had some elite players in that side imagine if we had a fevola we would be a top four side for sure.Structure in this modern game we love is so important these days and Craigy is your modern day coach.

Weren't the only one. Obviously correct, though.

Went about 25 and a half from memory. Watching the replay the "5 Minute Warning" came up about 19mins.

From that point on in the game, we turned it around and played some real Crows football for the middle two quarters of the game. Oh yeah, it was a gutsy performance indeed. Extremley dissapointed with our final quarter until the last 3 or 4 minutes when we ran out the clock. Overall a good victory, we need to win at home next week because the two TD games are difficult ones.

“There was certainly a lot of feeling around the incident when it happened because Porps was so courageous for us last week and he’s been terrific all year, so to see him going down like that was, obviously, not a good thing,” van Berlo said.

We just wanted to make our presence felt and let people know we’re not going to stand for blokes hitting our players off the ball. We were just standing up for our teammates, which is what we expect from each other.

“After that, the boys rallied together and said that we’d have to be first in and turn the game around because we were one down and then we lost Chris Knights before half time too.

“It was a real good test of character for the boys. We came through in the end and it was a pleasing thing for the culture of the club and the group.”

“I really enjoyed my role in the midfield and I had to play most of the game, as did the rest of the guys, because we were short on rotations. It was good to be a part of it and we had a lot of guys contributing, which we needed to get the result in the end,” van Berlo said.

“The boys are obviously very pleased with the result having been really tested with a couple of numbers down.

“To come through with the result is a great thing for the boys to hopefully draw on for the rest of the year. It’s still going to be a tough run to get into the finals but now we will have a lot of confidence.”

I've noticed this too. The average age of our crowds would be up there surely. In Melbourne you get a real cross-section of society - oldies, families, rowdy twenty somethings and kids everywhere. Crows home games aren't like that at all. They should show Golden Girls on the big screen before the game to fire people up.

Sure you will get the odd over 50 supporter yelling but they all dont !
These are usually the ones who are there by themselves and wearing yellow, red and blue leg warmers and a yellow A-hat. When did Glenside start their day-release program anyway?
