EPA littering fines

Just received 2 x $105 fines for dropping cigarette butts from my car window (me and a passenger). Anyone had a fine from the EPA before? How do you get out of it? Surely it's your word versus the person who reported you?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

basically you have to put in a stat dec saying you didn't do it.....id imagine that the person reporting the incident would also have to sign a form similar to, if not a stat dec.

As im sure your aware, putting in a false stat dec is quite a serious offence.

Though technically it is your word against the person who reported you, it could be a lot worse then 2 $105 fines if you try to fight it.

Its a filthy habbit dropping cigarette butts in the streets. You might want to turn your insides into a toxic dump, dont dump your filth on everyone else. Pay the fine it might make you think next time.

I have paid the fine, didn't really want to break the law by signing a false stat dec. My car DOES NOT have an ashtray, so I have to find alternate means of disposing of butts.

I have nothing against smokers, but whether they drop butts or not, I don't think that'll effect their image to most people.

Well i work at a Maccas and we;ve started to report people for dropping their litter on the ground outside in the car park. I mean there is a bin not 5 metres from them and yet they continue to do it. Some people are just ridiculous and deserve the fine.
