For those arguing that women deserve equal pay as men in tennis, take the grand slam equal pay as an example. Now use it in the real world but reverse it:
A man and woman work for the same company and earn the same wage. Now the woman works a minimum of 3 days a week and a maximum of 5 days a week. The man works a minimum of 2 days a week and 3 days a week. Now does that seem fair?
Isn't that like saying a rookie at the Gold Coast Suns should get paid as much as Ablett because he trains and works just as hard
(ps. this is copy and paste from above)the same complaints get leveled at a masters event where both play to best of 3. the "work" aspect argument is such a shallow argument that i am sick of it. reasons are
1) the tournament schedule wouldnt allow it
2) The WTA is "open" to the idea, but see above
3) they train 90% more than they play. a tennis players life is not just a match.
4) if time competing was sole reason for prize money, then the 100m race would be nothing compared to a 1500M race. should Isner get paid more, just because he loves 5 sets tennis which go 70-68 over a routine Joker win in 3. he works twice as hard after all.
the real argument is if womens tennis is popular enough to deserve equal pay. i say i they do at GS and masters events. others disagree. i "agree to disagree" with them.
