His profile before the 1990 gand final read - Can be Classy but may start on the bench to avoid fiery opening.

carey was out injured in 84 but played in 85.

the player i'm think of shares a surname with a former richmond/brisbane player.

Gerlach was part our teams in the 60's and early 70's.

HAROLD LAMBERT

PROFILE

Harold Lambert was a superb centreman before the war. He later went to the half back flank where he continued to dominate post-war. A fantastic competitor he was rarely beaten. Like his brother Chris, he came from La Mascotte in the Essendon District League. He had won the best and fairest award in that League in 1939.
From 1942 to 1945 he was in the army in New Guinea and elsewhere in the Pacific and he didn't play for this period. He was a strong, fearless player who let opponents know he was about with hard bumps and fierce tackling. He was well built and constructive when he got hold of the football.

He starred on the half back flank in the 1946 premiership win and then played a great game in the centre in the 1949 victory. He was on the half back flank again in the 1950 premiership win.

His total of 21 finals games has only been bettered by Bill Hutchison and Dick Reynolds. He won the Dons best first year player award in 1940, the most serviceable player award in 1946, the best utility player award in 1948 and the most consistent player award in 1949.
