"The first single from the album, Fell In Love With A Boy, was released on 26th January - and it went straight into the UK charts at Number 18.

It's actually a soulful version of The White Stripes' song Fell In Love With A Girl, and has been recorded with the help of jazz-rap band The Roots."

I'm probably being antsy, but is this anywhere near a short enough time from the track's original release to be publicising a putrid, ****ty R&B cover of it?

Also, is there any plastic crap that doesn't sell in the UK?

I hate it when a 'remix' version of a track is actually released before the orginal recording ala 'Sunrise' on the Queer Eye Soundtrack. The orginal is quite good, but first perceptions will now all be based on the Jason Nevins remix :(

This is not something new blues guys did this all the time. As long as the song is covered for the right reasons I don't have a problem with it. What ****es me off is the artists that cover songs just for the money or remixes where all they have done is put a funky bass line in it. There have been some great covers or if you like reworkings of a tune, done not long after the original especially in the 60's. Show how far we have come really it use to be that the songs called race music were "whitened up"(just look at Elvis early stuff), now there are black artists doing their take on "white Rock & Roll."

Well The Vines didn't exactly wait before putting around their version of Ms Jackson, did they?

Remember the remix of "fight for your right (to party)" by NYCC or something (mid 90's)? originally done by the beastie boys? That was terrible. kept the exact same lyrics (including the part where they actually say beastie boys) and added a bass line :(

There are some remixes that are good though. Sometimes it will reignite my flavour for the original

Yeah, and that was sh*t too.

I have something against using a cover to 'break' into the mainstream. Why don't you show us some of your alleged talent before using others' songs to get money.

The Hitman

She is 16, she's most likely just doing what she's been told. And it seems to be working for her (go you teenyboppers, go).

can't win with you guys really. Complain about no one can sing then here is a chick who clearly has a fantastic voice and you still have a go.

I, as per usual am reading the post wrong so I apologise if I do but she does have a great voice.

When I was in the UK in 95 Wonderwall was a big hit. Just in time for Christmas this bunch of hacks released "an easy listening" version of the tune - it went number 1, despite the original still sitting in the charts at the time.

Never heard it played since.

I again it was covered last year by Ryan Adams and gave the song a whole new lease of life.

I would like to add the Elastica - Connection ripoff doing the rounds to this list. MY HATE KNOWS NO BOUNDS.
