Excel Problem

When I try and open an Excel file I get the message:

"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact thwe program vendor"

and then

"Cannot find the file...Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available".

Does anyone know what this means and how I can fix it so I can access Excel?

Is your copy of MS Office a legit one?

Often when you use a burnt disc, the personal assistant in Excel refuses to work, causing the first error message you have received.

yeah it is. I might have to reload Office.

Reinstall. If that doesn't work, you can start trying different things, but for a start, reinstall Office.
