Been following the West Indies domestic 50 over competition - been some good performances, particularly Keiren Powell, best remembered as a promising opening partner for Kraigg Brathwaite before attempting a switch to baseball. His comeback was fairly reasonable - he went 80, century, century, 50, century or something like that in the first 5 games.

They real eye catcher came this morning though.

In a tournament where 280-290 has been the norm, Jamaica posted 4-434 in the semi against Trinidad and Tobago.

Some outstanding individual efforts -
Chadwick Walton 117 off 96
Steve Taylor 88 off 71
Jermaine Blackwood 108 off 88.

And then this:

Rovman Powell - 95 off 45, then the small matter of 5-36 with the ball.

If only people in the West Indies cared about West Indies cricket as much as you appear to.

You'd be surprised. Have you not seen the crowds at their domestic T20 competition.

They give a shit don't worry, they are just fickle when it comes to watching a side that is routinely handicapped by its own management.

That was what, 98 years ago?

So about the same length of time Australia are away from winning one there. That's being generous.
If you knew the 1919 world series.. you'd know why I mentioned that. They took bribes to throw it.

For those who don't know Steve Taylor is a born and bred American (parents are Jamaican) which I found quite interesting.

They've got an American team in the competition as well - comprised of the USA, Bermuda and at least one other nation that escapes my memory at the moment.

I think the whole team were Americans and Canadians except for one Bermudian named Kamau Leverock. The nephew of the infamous Dwayne.

Yes from spot fixers based in his home nation where the PCL is being played, as opposed to the regulated financial haven that is the UAE or Australia.

PSL is played in the UAE

Have been intrigued by this guy's potential for a little while, since he debuted for the Windies in ODIs last year. Seems to be cut from the Dre Russell mould, but hopefully fitness, drive and the notorious WICB allow him a bit more of a crack at the long form of the game, too.
