I really think it is a myth that just because an interstate player is drafted he will want to head back home. Ray will play a lot more games for the Dogs.

I tend to agree in some regards, but the thing to remember is most of the guys are just kids, aged 20-22 when they decide to go home, and mum, dad, the brothers and sisters are important at that age....

But i think players who move from smaller states to Melb, Sydney are less likely to leave.

Especially players who get recruited from Adelaide. Who would wanna go return to that place

I spoke to Farren last year here in Perth after the game against the Budgies and thanked him for showing an extended commitment to the club. His reply was that it was a great club to be part of, so i suspect that he really is happy with the dogs. A bloke with a great deal of loyalty I would say.

He had a quiet night but that left footed goal he kicked underlined his class.

I agree OS, just as his mark I believe going back into a pack in the.. first quarter?
His marking under pressure has come along, and I can only imagine how good he will be, once he has another 1 or two more pre-seasons under his belt.
I'm not however, convinced about the way he drops the ball to boot. It looks a bit flashy for mine and seems to have a large margin for error with the action. Anyone else notice his kicking style and think it may be a problem?

agreed but hes coming off a very low base. the video of his games before we picked him up was hilarious - he just threw it onto the boot at full tilt and it could have went anywhere. He was billed as 'genuinely dual sided' - like he was a random kick equally off both sides ;)

has natural talent to burn, just needs to learn how to play AFL

On MMM they said he had moved the ball further than any other player yesterday, did I hear that right?

Farren had lots of touches yesterday and played one of his best games even though he made a couple of blunders. He was one who kept on running.

Coming along beautifully this season. Imagine him with a full pre-season under his belt.

Does anyone know about that stat? It sounds good.....

Gilbee was leading the comp for "metres gained" when he was flying last year, and McMahon (I think?) was coming second towards the start of this year. Basically includes the running & possessions that gain ground rather than the sideways, often ineffective kick.
