Sorry to intrude, but I just saw on the news that a young footballer who was looking to get drafted to the AFL, lost his life in a car accident. I missed his first name, but his surname was Ryder & I was wondering if he is any relation to the Bombers player Patrick, if he is, then I can see it possibly affecting his playing for the rest of the year.

Aubrey Ryder was a passenger in the car, aged 19.

They did make mention that he was an up and coming australian rules player.

If you are still interested, I have been told that Aubrey was Patrick Ryers cousin. I believe this was his first year playing footy (was playing basketball, maybe state team). He was as a huge talent and very popular at the Wanneroo Landsdale club. The person telling me has a hubby that played with him and they are absolutely devastated at the club. She was very upset so I may have some facts wrong but I think she said that the AFL scouts were looking at him. Also, that he had been kicking bags of 14 or 15 goals. Anyway, best wishes to his family, friends and the club.
