Are we taking any of the three boys. I've heard Tomi Johnston was the best. Maybe Sheldon next year. What do ya all think?

williams had 25 touches in the U/18 GF so he can find the ball and looking at the other two's stats form the TAC cup they also know not only how to find it but how to use it so yeah williams a certinty perhaps

Blue legal, as most would have observed Sheldon in eligible to nominate for either this years or next years draft - Carlton will do its best to keep him from nominatinig this year.
Sheldon and Johnston are not worth picks inside round four in this years draft, so will most likely miss out or get rookied.

Williams isnt the athletic type of footballer that is commonly getting picked up these days, much like his dad - showed great vision under pressure all year. Could be worth a punt in the 3rd round, but would be getting picked due to his name. The 25 possies in the granny were a bit dissapointing really, he had 14 at quarter time and went missing when the pressure was on.

14 of his 25 possessions were in the first quarter. He was pretty much shut out of the game after that.... but yes, he did dominate in the first quarter and did show that he does know how to find the ball but was pretty much tagged out of the match after that.

Yes I heard that Carlton were very keen to pick him up and were going to try and persuade him to nominate next year but I also heard that he might nominate himself this year. If that is the case then we probably wouldn't draft him would we?

Who the hell is blue Legal?
Sounds like a porno name, not that I would know anything about that. ;) :p

We will take Sheldon next year.
Sheldon mentioned in a paper that he would nominate for this draft, so we may have our work cut out to get him to wait.

Why would you knock back a year on $50k to do what you were already doing for free on weekends? Jeez, if I had my choice of 1st year uni over again or that, I'd take the money and run.

I'd like both Williams and Sheldon at the club, but I'm not sure how that could happen.

Read the same thing AD. Would prefer him to stay at TAC cup level for another 12 months. Or we could risk it and take him at 51 or even 67

We should only use a father son pick if we are certain they would go well before our 3rd round pick.

If not you don't commit & wait and see who is still available at our 3rd pick.

Otherwise we'll end up like CollingClokes, pick up duds for the sake of their name.

Whitnall was a standout top 10 pick, therefore a bargain for 3rd round pick.

Waite & Blackwell haven't yet proved worthy of using 3rd round selection, not to say they won't in next few years.

Not sure what you are saying? I thought my logic was very sound.

If we are not sure these father sons are definite top 35 picks, then you wait to see what other talent is available at this pick.

I don't think we will take any of them prior to draft.

I'd have to disagree on that point... nonetheless...

Sam Sheldon has said he wants to nominate this year. Hopefully we can change that because he's absolutely not ready, especially bodywise.

They may take Jake at 35 in order to get his brother in later years and to promote Carlton as a club that cares about tradition. Is legitimately a 45-50 selection, so I'd expect Sydney will offer him a f/s spot if we don't.

Tomi would be a rookie list selection, just too small to consider taking in the main draft.

I doubt sheldon will not nominate this year. Its a catch 22 for the young kid, if Carlton promise to take him next year & he gets seriously injured then he could run the risk of not getting drafted ( although I think Carlton will keep their word).

If he nomimates this year he could be drafted by an interstate club, maybe that doesn't concern him.

Very interesting anyway, should be some news in next 2-3 weeks

If we don't take Sheldon with Pick 35, Saints might take him with 43. Isn't his dad working back at the Saints again?

Edit: My mistake, the Saints gave up that pick for Gardiner. Point still remains though, Saints could trump us.

We need to be sure these kids are not likely to be anything special or we will regret it big time. Geez, it would be exciting taking them all but we really can't afford to.

I guess we made the call on young Hunter and have been vindicated.

I could be wrong, but didn't Carlton persuade Tomi to sit out of last years draft so that we can presumebly father/son him this year. If that is the case why would Sheldon wait from nominating this year if Carlton doesn't keep their promise to Tomi.
