don't wanna hi jack this thread (lol actually i dont really give a shit if i do :P ) but cheap places in the CBD for lunch/coffee?

any would be appreciated, sick of paying $11 for 2 slices of toast and coffee.......

$11 for toast and coffee?!?!?!

You can get a cheap breakfast at Blue Train in Southbank for $5! Eggs and toast plus your choice of hot drink.

There was an article about cheap breakfasts in the paper the other week...

Pellegrinis is my standard coffee stop in the CBD. Their food is nothing exciting, but it's decent and cheap. I've grabbed a pasta there once or twice, it was fine.

Degraves Cafe off Flinders Street is good too, grabbed breakfast there a couple of times. They do good eggs.

alright thanks guys, ill check out some of these places tomorow

and yeah the 'fat burger' store in rmits cafeteria has like $2.50 coffees which is good but i want to find something even cheaper :D

edit: that isn't 7/11 coffee

^ Sofia's went completely down hill many years ago when it was sold by Italians to Lebanese. Ive got nothing against Lebanese people and I adore their cuisine but the lebanese owners of Sofia put the cheapest mankiest ingredients available in their food and the result is ordinary.
If you want to smash a pizza when your drunk then it is worthwhile.
Its a shame cause 10 years ago it was a wonderful place.

Mate, the Lebanese have been running it for well over 15 years (massive family connections with Colombo's as well) and they just went BOOM!!! expansion. Ive only eaten there a couple of times in recent years and struggled to get through an entree pasta. Definately agree with your summation of the food though.

Off the top of my head personally Im a fan of (Vic Street) Quan 88 (as mentioned before) and recently Minh Tan II, adore Squires Loft (Danish Blue Cheese Sauce FTW) and Australia Pizza Kitchen (only worthwhile thing in Canberra).

I dont understand the love on here for Choi's, its not bad, I just dont think its that great either.
